Ok, I see what you mean now... What ReaddleBR allows you to do is actually explore what you have put into the directory /DCIM (the same directory as photos taken by the iPhone camera). Any program that allows you to change the /DCIM folder (in non-jailbroken iPhone) or the root directory (in a jailbroken one) will couple finely with Readdle Book Reader. I suppose that in your home computer you can install "DiskAid" (free program that allows exploration of the DCIM folder) and put your files in the /DCIM root (on the left bottom corner, need to change from DiskAid folder to the root above it). The public computer (assuming its a windows; don't know why any sane company would use a mac other than for looks) if your iPhone is updated with the latest patch, will show your iPhone under My Computer. It treats it just like other digital camera and will allow you to read (but not write) the /DCIM folder. You can then copy the files you want over, but you'll need a program to write it back to the iPhone.

Hope this helps

yeah yeah, you CAN transfer files using readwired but, YOU NEED TO INSTALL THE PROGRAM ON THE COMPUTER before you can actually turn your device into an usb device or so.... meaning if you're going to transfer file from your computer to a public one, you NEED TO INSTALL AGAIN readwire on that computer, thats all i can find on the instruction book, and i'm not used to read those, so if you can actually transfer files from one computer to another using your iphone usb cable and not needing to install readwire or using wifi on THAT computer.... please, teach me how, if you can do so.

WIFI is NOT mandatory. It is only an option. To use USB cable for file transfer, you need to use the free PC application as noted in the post (which can then be viewed via the iPhone App). L2READ dude...

ok. first i must say that i bough this app becase it stated i could use my iphone as and usb drive, later on i was REALLY dissapointed when i read the user guie it stated that i could use my iphone as and usb drive without installing programs on my pc.
let me get this clear... theres a big diference betwen USB drive and net drive. and that is fisical conection, all and i mean ALL USB drives need to be fisicaly conected to you computer in order to tranfer files, now, this @!##! app only alows you to make you iphone a net drive, which means, WIFI IS MANDATORY.

im sorry for the bad spelling, i live in the caribean, which that why im so pissed off, we dont have wifi all over the place... i should have bought a USB memory stick instead of this !$!#! app, i need a refund, i should sue you for providing false information....

I FEEL SCAMMED to all other users, dont buy this E$!$!@

I'm sure Apple is thinking that it would be harder to get people to pay for tethering if they could just transfer files back and forth by USB cable and use the already-included iPhone data plan to essentially send and receive e-mail attachments on their laptops. :) In fact, if Apple opened up the file system on the iPhone like it does for the iPods except the touch, it would take very little time for an app-developer to essentially come up with a free tethering app for non-jail-broken iPhones. And that just wouldn't be profitable enough for Apple now, would it?

Plus if people started doing that, AT&T's crappy 3G network would be further taxed.

Same reason that Apple doesn't allow Bluetooth keyboards for the iPhone. God forbid people start making use of the iPhone's actual capabilities and start using it like a laptop.

Exactly, hence my pet peeve. I can't stand how closed the iPod Touch/iPhone system is.

File transfer via wire is an innovation on the iPhone? BWAHAHAHA. Windows CE/Pocket PC/Windows Mobile has had that for 10+ years (serial at first, USB now).

Gotta love the Apple control freaks.

Steve

BookReader seems to handle ePub and RTF files best. During my very limited time with it, its handling of HTML, TXT and PDF has been iffy at best with loss of formatting being the chief problem. For now, I agree that Stanza is the way to go.

I hadn't been aware of that feature in stanza, and from the instructions it is far more complex and involved a solution than ReaddleWire...plus reading the comments on the Stanza page the feature apparently doesn't work...still could be worth a try.
