This is a review of the Samsung Intrepid from Sprint.  Overall, I liked the phone.  It has a good build, and the software is impressive.  There were a few quirks here and there though.  …

“There’s a Map for That…”

Verizon has fired back at Apple’s “There’s an App for that” ads, and aimed right at poor old Barney Fife…yep, AT&T and their limited coverage get it in the ole’ deputy. Cute ad, though this YouTube copy is a bit fuzzy.

Some pundits are dismissing the ad as a cheap shot, lots of tweets and talkbacks mainly consist of “DUDE!!! LAME!!!!  IPHONE RULZZ ONEONEONE111 LMFAO!!!!!” which means it hit a fanboi nerve…but I think the point is well made. You want a phone to “just work”…more and more, for whatever reason, that is becoming an issue for iPhones.

Also, nice Samsung handset..which model is that?

That phone is the new Samsung Rogue. Super awesome phone! I might be a little prejudice though cause i work for them! LOL
  • Well, the Rogue certainly looks sharp, and thanks for the info.

So, how are things at Sammy? Any insider rumors you want to pass along?

I saw the ad. It's cute, but it's obvious the maps are grossly wrong. The text says that Verizon's 3G is 5 times the size of AT&T's but the maps show it about 10 times larger, or more. The AT&T map has small areas of availability while the Verizon map pretty much has the entire US covered. I used to have Verizon and left because coverage sucked. Their map shows perfect coverage in my area, but my entire neighborhood is a dead zone for them. Their answer when I complained was that I must be wrong, even as I was looking at my smartphone showing zero bars and roaming. I gave up on them and went to AT&T and never looked back. When I looked at iPhone, it was a simple decision to make. AT&T has problems, of course, but for me, Verizon was much, much worse.
  • Maybe the 5x coverage refers to the number of people actually covered, not the area covered. Who knows?
