The embargo for the anticipated Window Mobile 6.5 release has come. There will be an “official” announcement tomorrow morning, but the flood gates for WinMo 6.5 coverage begins now. Besides the HTC Pure and Touch Diamond 2, our “official” hands on with Windows Mobile 6.5 has been brief.

Over the next few minutes, we’ll share a good amount of info about Windows Mobile 6.5 in a series of posts.

Enjoy Windows Mobile 6.5 Day friends!

    Dear Mr Balmer,

After being a WinMo addict for years, I have now learnt from a few people who never used it that, WinMo sucks? Here are some ideas to make it better?

    A) Reduce it's functionality and add some visual effects? playing with menus is the in thing, content be damned.

    B) Ignore the numerous applications PPC has and the numerous websites carrying all the Apps one needs. Start an application store afresh and start ferrying 2-penny apps for generating fart sounds and the like.

C)Forget about the advantages of the stylus, forget that using it you can draw a painting onscreen, work with excel sheets and even type with greater speed as compared to your fingers! just throw it away?

    D) Do away with the hardware buttons? everybody Knows they are needed, the guy who helped develop the iphone, next came up with palm pre? but dont look here and there just follow blindly, afterall, to become a leader you have to become a follower first.

    E) Make the icons bigger and bigger? so that for handling a handful of apps, you have to scroll through a multitude of pages

    F) Replace the today screen, which shows everything you need at a glance, with a screenful of icons or TEXT maybe?

G)Start harping about multi touch but don't use it in any appliacation.Try pressing two keys at time on the onscreen keyboard, this will show you the advantages of multitouch maybe?

    H) Dont worry about your developers migrating to other platforms? thell come back when WinMo-7 Sorry Windows-7 phone is ready someday, maybe?

    I) Dole out your biggest USP, the Mobile Office Suite, to others like NOKIA. maybe this will lead to increase in WinMo sales

    J) I have been to the sites of all other mobile platforms and on seeing their list of best ever apps, i can feel nothing but pity for their users. But don't let the public Know about this, keep it for the day when you'll be writing the obituary of windows Mobile

    K) Kill the XDA developers, they are promoting software piracy. Strenthen DRM e.t.c.--e.t.c. instead.

    L) Instead of advancing the technology to take the phone experience nearer to the PC, make the PPC dumber so it comes down to the level of the Competition

I am sure, this will Convert your near PC like Phone (PPC) to a cheap imitation of the iDIOT-phone so that you could satisfy the critics who want to make us believe that a touch phone launched years ago is copying a newly launched phone which also uses touch? (What about the basic principle of using touch in phones, who is copying whom?)

You've started well Mr Balmer, by hiding the default today screen from the WinMo 6.5 start screen, introducing the silly hexagonal menu arrangement which results in lesser icons per page, opening an App store hosting a pitiful of apps forgetting that Microsoft became the king of the PC world without one. Carry on,end is near?

P.S.: Hope you'll take longer to develop WinMo 7 because I feel, considering the path you have taken(as proved by WinMo

6.5)that by the time you'll finish with it, Windows mobile would have been finished.

    No longer Yours
