I owe you guys a couple to get caught up since I missed yesterday. Had I been using something like Awesome Note, I might not have forgotten. I have been working on this for a few weeks and just recently replaced the free version with the paid ($3.99) version. I lost all my notes. I am not sure if I could have moved them, but I will just start over. Oh well. It’s a great app and worth the upgrade.

On the left, you have the main dashboard for the app. Up top, you can create a new memo, a new note, or view all notes. The settings can be accessed by clicking on the gear icon at the bottom left. The icons in the bottom right allow you to create new folders or edit existing folders. In the middle, you have your folders listed.along with the icon you choose when you create a folder, the folder name, and how many items are in those folders.

One of the most pleasant things that this app has going for it is definitely the look. It’s sexy and offers a ton of customization. They seem to have spent a lot of time making it “pretty”. On the left you can see a quick memo. The icons at the top allow you to choose the color paper for the memo. The color selected has a checkmark on it. (see below right for another color choice) You can also change the font to one of many nice looking fonts.

The screenshot on the right shows a new note being created. You have many options of styles and types of notes to choose from.

As you can see in my “website to do” list, I have created items with a couple of the choices. You can see that I have completed the redesign item. In the right hand screen, you see the same 2 items in a list view. You toggle views in the
bottom bar. In this list view, you can see the date that the contest winner needs to be picked on that item. This is the view I plan to use most. The sticky note view on the left is pretty, but pretty is not always best.

Here is the edit folder view. You can see all the colors I can choose from.

Wrap Up
This app is almost too feature rich on the looks side to be honest. I was initially turned on by how it looked which is probably one of the things that make it so appealing to others. I like the app a lot, but I can not recommend it at $3.99 to everyone. It is the best looking app for notes and to do lists out there, so if the looks of the UI is important to you, go for it.

Pros:

  • Very nice looking and offers almost too much customization
  • The developer seems to be working hard to add more features and functionality
  • Sorting by folders is wonderful and works well

Cons:

  • Lacks the ability to alert the user of a time sensitive todo that is coming due
  • Too many theme, font style, and font size options.
  • Google Doc syncing is not refined yet.
