This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding. Here is an application that I knew zero about until a friend reviewed it. Clinton Fitch reviewed this one for the same reason I decided to purchase it as well. It works seamlessly with Microsoft Exchange 2007. I am a heavy exchange user and haven’t been able to walk away towards the Google line up of services yet. I don’t know when I can, I am so used to using Exchange. Anyhow, let’s jump right into this one.
As I mentioned above, I like to use the task lists within Outlook to give myself a heads up on what I have coming up and what I need to get done. Here is what my Outlook looks like for me most of the time.
You can see that I use this a quick look at what I need to do. I have been doing this for quite a while. These tasks sync with my exchange server and I have my tasks on whatever device I am using, including my laptop and phones. The problem is the iPhone doesn’t play as nice. Making it necessary to find something like TaskTask. I had been on the hunt for a replacement task program, but I really don’t want to sync with another program when I am perfectly fine with Exchange 2007.
When you load up the app, you have all you work needing done crammed into your face. That’s a good thing though. I want to get the work done. The main page is sorted however you want to sort it. I prefer to sort by due date, which I believe was default. There are tons of options on how the content is to be displayed within the application.
All you have to do to set this application up is give it your exchange server information. Once the info is in place and verified, You are off to the races and the iPhone syncs the tasks from your Exchange server.
When you create a task on the device, you have many other options. You can set the due date or leave that blank. You can set the Task Category, and even put an alarm on the task to go off whenever you set it to. I found it much more efficient to quickly add items within Outlook. While the creation on the iPhone through that app is simple and easy, it’s even easier to hammer that out at my laptop or desktop.
TaskTask is a simple, easy to use task management application for iPhone and iPod Touch. TaskTask enables you to synchronize your tasks from your Outlook/Exchange mailbox to your iPhone with ease. Using TaskTask, you can manage your to do list, including creating tasks, setting start/due dates, marking tasks complete, assigning categories, changing importance, and deleting tasks.
The real power of TaskTask is provided when you connect it to your Exchange mailbox. Hooked up to Exchange, TaskTask gives you mobile access to your Outlook or Outlook Web Access tasks from your iPhone or iPod Touch.
Wrap Up
Quite simple. Very simple and works well for those that can use it. Remember, this app is designed to work with Exchange Server 2007 and 2003 with DAV access. Many of the negative reviews in the app store are from people that didn’t realize this when they bought it. I find it terrible that an app can be rated badly when it was the user’s own fault that they didn’t know what they were buying. It’s unfair to the developer to be honest. This app does what it says it does and does it well. The only issue I found with the app is the price. $4.99 is a large (relative to other apps in the iTunes App Store) price for a simple app. I don’t regret buying it personally, but I am sure others will scoff at the price.
Pros:
- Simple to use
- Feature rich with so many options on how to view your tasks. I think there are more options that Outlook 2007 offers me.
Cons:
- Price. Just a tad high compared to other apps. Ideal price point in my opinion would be $2.99.
