My Nook is no longer on Schedule, Gift Offered…

The other day I shared that my Nook’s delivery seemed to be on scheduled based on the status on their website. This was checked out based on info that many are getting 2010 ship dates on this thing. Well, I got an email today that changes that status a little. Instead of getting it 2-3 days from now, it seems it’s going to be December 9th now. On December 7th, will I get an email saying December 14th? Good thing they don’t like to cut it close to Christmas huh? Don’t you like having your Nook Delayed?

Well, this makes it better. Free overnight shipping (I think I paid for that anyhow) and $10 off for being a week late? I’d rather have the toy. I paid like $16 for shipping, is that the cost of overnight or 2day? Who knows.

That's ridiculous. I hate it when companies put up products that are really in a pre-order stage and treat the items like they are available when they say they are, when in fact they aren't even in stock. It's more like a bait and switch operation.

If this situation is widespread, there is going to be a backlash. Sure it is a nice position for a company to be in, to have demand exceed supply…but when it exceeds it by THIS much demand is likely to get pissed off, and buy a Kindle after all.

The Kindle was in the same situation (well, worse) when it was introduced two years ago; it hasn't seemed to hurt it. B&N has a huge advantage, once they ramp up, of having it in actual brick and mortar stores, where people can try them before they buy sight-unseen. They already have Nook kiosks in their stores where they have properly sized and weighted mock-ups so they can shill them.

Yes, but the Kindle has no competitors. You either waited for your Kindle to arrive or you…waited for your Kindle to arrive.

The Nook has plenty of competitors just waiting to jump on every delay.

@KevinCTofel $10 is hardly "worth the wait". I'd pay $20 extra to have it today. http://bit.ly/66ssKx

I thought Sony had an eBook reader back then. Was Sony's first one introduced after the Kindle?

And maybe the delay isn't just supply-and-demand, either. Maybe there's some production issue (has anybody gotten a production Nook yet?) that's delaying things. That's the chance you take with pre-orders, though.

Perhaps B&N can explain to my 15 year old..who worked for months in order to get a nook…that he won't be getting it any time soon!! We ordered it in early Nov and continue to get delay notice after delay notice. I am extremely disappointed in B&N!

  • James

hey everyone, I ordered a Nook Nov. 9 for Dec., 11 delivery. On Dec. 11 I got an email saying that it was to be Dec.21 with an upgrade to overnight delivery. Today I DID NOT get an email but an angel told me to check my account/order status on BN.com and I found in bold red letters that I have to click on ” I still want this” or they will cancell my order with in 24 hours. After clicking that I still want it, I checked it 10 minutes ago and found that my order is now Jan 20, 2010!!!! Its like being guilty until prove innocent. My order will be cancelled unless I tell them I still want it. Then they never emailed me to go make a choice. It was just a stroke of luck that I did check my status. BN owes people a lot of explanation

same identical story (time/dates).. but I'm still waiting update on ship!?!?
THIS IS VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

  • Paul Salvador

Well,.. it arrived!! talk about pushing it to within 24hrs! well, i guess those of you who do not get it can at least look forward to getting $100!
    Merry Christmas!

  • James

I wrote a polite letter of complaint to BN addressed to the CEO and is waiting for results.

  • Paul Salvador

hey James.. i finally got mine at 6pm tonight.
for me,.. it would have been so easy if they would have sent a second email explaining the delay past Dec 11th.. but nothing!?
also,.. when at the status page.. that note was VERY confusing AND it was right next to the DELETE option!?!?
    Not kewl!
but for those who's package doesn't arrive on the 24th.. the $100 is nice apology.
