It’s about that time for Apple to make a new splash to squelch the “Droid Invasion” right? The iPhone hasn’t changed in appearance much since it’s launch back in 2007, wouldn’t it be nice to see something “new” other than software refinements and the addition of 3G? Who knows what is coming, all we know is that Apple Insider is reporting that a new version of the iPhone showed up in some usage logs. It’s showing as “iPhone3,1”. Not sure what that means, but it gets the anticipation built up.
PinchMedia who provides the analytics for the application breaks down customer usage including what specific devices are being used. This list of devices is reported to developers using internal device identification numbers assigned by Apple. In this case, "iPhone3,1" was first spotted in Pandav’s usage logs in November. This "iPhone3,1" identifier does not match up with any shipping iPhones. The last iPhone released to the public was the iPhone 3GS which carries the identification string "iPhone2,1".
What would you like to see changed about the iPhone 3GS? Anything? Me… I want an “iPhone Pro”. I want the iPhone 3GS with a slide out qwerty. I want the ability to multitask out of the box. I want to be able to theme without jailbreaking. Other than that, the iPhone 3GS is a great phone.
