7th Anniversary Contest #2 – HTC Snap x2

Posted by Chris Leckness on Dec 02, 2009

closeThis post was published 2 years 5 months 21 days ago which may make its actuality or expire date not be valid anymore. This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.

Oh snap. Yep. It’s round 2 of the contests. This one is for 2 HTC Snaps.

snap

How do you win?

This one is even more simple that the others. This one is better suited for the long time readers of the site than our newer readers, but time doesn’t change reasons. This is the 7th anniversary of Mobilitysite and we started as Aximsite, a site dedicated to the Dell Axim Pocket PC. We moved into iPAQs as well. Eventually, it was all rolled into one, Mobilitysite. I chose to honor our Anniversary date on the same date we always celebrated it on with Aximsite. For more info about Mobilitysite’s roots, read this.

So, the contest is a touchy feely one. This one is to make me feel better about what we are doing here. Warm fuzzies that I used to get all the time don’t come as often anymore, so ya. I did have a guy just today mention he was searching for help with his iPhone and found Mobilitysite and then recognized my name. It’s such a small world. To win, simply leave a comment and tell us about one of the following: You fondest moment on one of the sites that now make up Mobilitysite or tell us why you read Mobilitysite. Don’t say, “for the contests” or you will be disqualified. :) If you are, make something up. J/K. The deadline is on December 12th, 2009 at 11pm CST. At that time, I will ask some staff members to collectively read and choose 2 winners. Each of the 2 selected will get an HTC Snap.

These 2 Snaps are not US models. They will work here on GSM carriers, but you will be limited to EDGE speeds. I used the Snap for a week or so and it’s a really nice phone if you like this style.

Good Luck!

I have been here for my Axim X50v. Today I visit for new products for Win Mobile and new Win Mobile phones

  • ravipkumar

I came to know about aximsite when I got my axim x50, was very helpful during the windows upgrades. Now, I follow mobilitysite (for contests. :) ) for information in the mobile community.

    Ravi.

I have been here since Aximsite. I like reading all the info on new products that keep us mobile from authors who actually use this stuff! I also like to use the forums to get help and give help. One of my best moments was when someone thanked me for the help I gave them when there Axim wasn't working correctly.

Keep up the good work guys!

  • desilva

I have been following this site for several years now. I don't remember just why I came but if I would have to guess I would say being an owner of a tablet pc and the original Samsung Q1 UMPC had a lot to do with it.

I started reading GotZune because the blog seemed to be the best out there with the latest news and in depth coverage.

  • leex50v

I have followed since the early days of Aximsite. I still have my x50 and x50v and still use them to this day. The single reason I still use them is thanks to Aximsite keeping them up to date and correcting the issues that popped up. I now follow Mobilitysite EVERY DAY. I am currently searching for a new phone and with the amazing coverage here I know my next phone will be influenced from this site. Please keep up the great work and remember just how many lives you touch every day. Thanks a million.

I stumbled upon Aximsite the night I got my Axim X50 as I was looking for software. I remember opening many links from a google search and waiting for them to download (dialup back then). I worked my way through each page seeing if it contained anything useful. When I got to aximsite I was blown away. That much information, from that many people, tailored to my new device. I had owned a couple previous companies devices and had never seen support like this. Thank you for this site. To this day it is the first RSS feed I hit through out the day.

I started reading mobilitysite.com on Nov 19, 2009 when I was redirected from google to the article “Symbian Rejected Again…by Nokia??”. It validated some information I got while working on my dissertation that Nokia was focusing more on Maemo and would pursue the dual OS route for now. Funny I later saw another article on the site about it. and I've been reading stuff here ever since. I even added it to my google reader.

Aximsite was where I got my feet wet in the realm of Mobile products and Windows Mobile in particular back in 2005. Support was outstanding and the atmosphere of the forums was wonderful, meeting and chatting with so many people from around the world. Fondest memory? Let's set wthe wayback to early 2006. There was a thread about linux and someone flamed the original poster, and I defended the OP's question and got a post from the admin Frenchy complimenting me saying something to the effect of “that's how we like to do things around here.” That's when I knew Aximsite was the place for me.

I'm probably not in the running since I'm staff too, but thought it would be fun to participate anyway.

  • http://occamsrazr.com Ike Pigott

Seriously — this is a fantastic resource. The information I glean from here isn't so much the head-to-head tech aspects of the devices, for me it's more about figuring out where mobile is going.

The fact you're just down the road from my parents is gravy.

  • garystapleton

Love all the information you provide! Very helpful for folks who only follow hardware when their current phone kicks the bucket!

    Happy Birthday Axim/MobilitySite!

I found Aximsite in December of 2004 when I was researching the purchase of my first PDA.

After reading the forums, I decided that it was worth getting the X50v instead of the X50. I also found lots of tips, tricks and great advice from everyone after I received the unit and started using it.

I've been checking the site daily since then. I have the RSS feed going to my phone.

I've found useful info about settings, software reviews, software recommendations, and ROM flashing.

I've also contributed a few times (only 117), mostly in the GPS section, since I use my Axim almost daily with OCN8 and a bluetooth receiver.

I currently have an X51v (with 128 memory upgrade) that I picked up on eBay, and am running Lenny's WM6.5 on it. I sent my old X50v to Lenny to allow him to develop for that platform.

Again, thanks for the years of service that this site has provided me and others.

  • Andrew_Egnew

Hey Chris. I've been reading mobility site for about two years now. I started reding it when I first wanted to try winmo. I still haven't tried it but mostly because I never found a phone that was right for me( the hd2 looks promising). But now I'm using an iPhone and love that you created iPhone MVP. I must say that I prefer mobilitysite orver many other sites. I like that you talk about phones primarily. Thanks for your hard work.

I started on Aximsite with the X5 and then the X50v. Back then, Pocket PCs were a new thing and it was quite a community of people learning how to really use their new toys. The forums were really a hot and fun place then and my favorite Aximsite moment was when a new Axim owner posted a question asking what was the best way to pick up girls with his new device. He was wondering if he should keep it in his pocket and then pull it out and use it at the bar or would it be better to have it on his belt in a new case. The responses were hilarious with the majority suggesting it was not the hardware but rather how you use the device that mattered (I'm still talking about Axims here). One poster suggested that time management and reminders such as remembering Birthdays and Anniversaries and being on time would be the key thing to impress girls. It inspired me to write a “12 days of Christmas” submission for a SPBH giveaway of Pocket Breeze for that year’s anniversary contest which I won. Only on Aximsite/Mobilitysite can there be days like that . . .

I had my first PocketPC, a Casio E125 in 2001. My second was an Audiovox Maestro which I picke dup in 2003. There were never many blogs dedicated to Audiovox(It was made by Toshiba, and you know how good their customer was back then!)

I discovered over time that the work arounds that were being discussed for the first Axim worked on the Maestro. Your blog was a great source of information and I've ben grateful for it.

Though its certainly outlived itself, I still use my Maestro for the games and my ebooks. The internet explorer cannot render pages anymore (flash and java stopped being upgraded a while now) so I keep chugging along until I reach the day when it finally dies and I have to get a replacement.

I'm sure the Snap would be a cool option :)…

I remember when Aximsite helped me figure out what was going wrong with my Axim x50v and how to get a free OS upgrade. But I can't remember what version of the OS we had to return to Dell because it didn't work. Could it have been Windows Mobile 3 or something?

  • http://www.gamingwithchildren.com Michael Anderson

I don't know how I started reading the site – probably something from Gadgeteer or USENET or something like that linked me … and I have never left. I like your style and enthuisiasm, and even in a busy life flooded with me-too sites yours remains one I have bookmarked and on my RSS feeds, and will still find help in the forums when I have a question!

  • breley

Kevin, are you talking about WM 2003SE that shipped with the X50v and users could get the WM5 upgrade in some cases for free?

  • http://www.svpocketpc.com Pony99CA

On iPAQ HQ, I won a Samsung Blackjack in a contest. I saw that another user had a family tragedy and he was trying to get the phone to help people get in touch, so I had Chris send the phone to him.

I remeber when I bought my Axim X51v and was looking for some sites to helpme get the most from the device, that's when I found aximsite.com. I got a lot from other people helping out with tips & tricks to make my Axim run smoothly.
I have over the years recommended this site to my work mates, customers (now both WinMo, Android & iPhone users) so that they can truely start getting more out of their devices. It helps that we have such a great bunch of people here on the site both with Chris, the reviewers/ news editiors and of course all of the geeks, techno junkies and newbies who like all of us are starting out on the path of technology.
Love the new look & feel tothe site keep up the great work.

    Cheers

ive been a member of aximsite for many years. Not a big talker but loved the articles there. I joined aximsite when i first got my x50v and found out new and neat ways to tweak and found some great programs that others sujested. I ran into a boot up problem and asked on the forums and was answered within hours and it fixed my issue. I moved onto the x51v (and still use it today) and love the links and info that everyone had. I am personally glad to see it morf and combine with the others sites to mobilitysite. Now more information is avail for all my handheld needs such as my x51v, and my Iphone. I follow chris's tweets and mobilitysite's tweets and along side my news and Chic Magee's tweets, these are my favorite ones to watch for.

    Feel better Chris

    Signed,

    Chris W.

by the way, man that is one COOL and SEXY Name, Chris, it just rolls off your tong!!!! I guess you were blessed with a cool name like mine.

I could take the easy way by just saying why I read Mobilitysite: because ever since I came across this website (I guess it was in the spring of 2008), I instantly saved it to my favorites because I love gadgets and reading about them and every night I check what’s new that day, this is one of the websites I visit.
But I would also like to share my fondest Mobilitysite moment. It happened when you were giving away a Nokia N95 last year. I heard so many great things about the phone, everyone was “N95 this, N95 that…” so I decided to try my luck. To enter, you asked us to post a photo with our phone/gadget and the Mobilitysite logo or webpage somewhere in there. Unfortunately, I didn’t win since the winner was randomly picked but despite this you made me feel really happy. How? Well, in the article in which you announced the winner (http://www.mobilitysite.com/2008/06/congrats-da...), you wrote “One of my favorites was the Cat picture.” Guess what? That was my picture :) I felt so proud of me, my idea, my pet and I was really glad that you liked it. Honestly, it didn’t matter anymore that I didn’t win; I had the best picture!
I managed to find that photo in the Gallery in case you'd like to remember it: http://mobilitysite.com/photos//showfull.php?ph...
    Thanks! ;)

I read MobilitySite because I really do love all of the content that's being posted on this site. I love walking into a store or seeing someone holding a phone, and knowing exactly what that phone is.

You guys really do help me out know more about phones and keep up to date with them. :)

I found this site through youtube when I saw you(Chris's) video on the blackjack 2. I liked the demo so much I bought it and, when it came out, the epix. I then had a problem with my epix and I searched mobile sites and decided to come here and found it was (and I may be wrong about the name) Slog Dump bug, and mobilitysite helped me find where to get it fixed,so now I come here for all my phone problems.

My fondest memory of Mobilitysite.com was back around Jan 07 when I was looking for a phone to upgrade. I looked on AT&T's website for phone reviews but they weren't as thorough as Mobilitysite.com's reviews. Then one phone caught my eye on a YouTube video, it was the Samsung BlackJack II. Ever since then, I've been using Mobilitysite as a guide for cell phone news and updates and a place to help friends and family find phones. I believe it was this site that made me get the BlackJack II. This Jan 09, I will be available for another upgrade and will be using this site once again for insight and advice on buying a new phone. I am very much pleased with my choice of getting the BlackJack II, but it is time for a new phone. This phone has served me well for the past almost 2 years. It's survived falls, rain, snow, and much more. I was impressed with Mobilitysite.com's review about it and up to now, still impressed with the phone. As of now, I'm looking into the iPaq Glisten and the HTC PURE. I'm hoping that Mobilitysite can help me choose my next phone for the next two years.
    Thanks Mobilitysite.com & Happy 7th Anniversary,

The reason I go to mobilitysite is because of their windows mobile perspective they have on phones, and because their not apple fanboys like some other cell reviewers. I also enjoy reading this site becase Chris is a zune owner that loves his zunes and i myself am a Zune owner that really enjoys my new Zune HD :) Written on a Zune HD

I read Mobility Site for all the iPhone and app reviews. This site ultimately lead me to purchasing the iPhone. I find this site to be un-biased, accurate, and user friendly with great reviews. It keeps me up to date on all the mobile tech out there today as well.

  • fabianhobbelen

I read Mobility Site becouse I want to be up to date all the time of all the new phone gadgets and accesoires. And since US is ahead of Europe in those kind of things i well up to date each time i read up or watch on youtube.

  • sethdawg17

My fondest memory was last year when I found mobility site to be the most helpful in finding which phone I was going to buy.

  • B.Swizzle

I read Mobilitysite to get a non biased review of phones. Many other sites seem to get some sort of bonus from giving certain phone manufacturers higher reviews than others, even if the phone is mediocre. With Mobilitysite i know im getting a fair & just review and that is why i continue to visit

  • xxMenixx

I used to watch the unboxing and review video of the AT&T Samsung Blackjack 2. I bought it after I watched the video at least 6 times. I showed my mom it and everything. That was my favorite video ever.

The reason that I visit this awesome site is to read all of the great reviews by the staff and to keep up-to-date on the latest phone news and all of the new application used for Windows Mobile. So keep up the good job guys!

Chris! You know we love you, man!! I know it isn't always easy running these sites and sometimes it truly is a thankless job, but MobilitySite.com and its other iterations have always been a fantastic source of news and opinions. Keep being you, exactly the way you are. Do whatever you feel like to keep this site fun. Its a fantastic hangout!

i'm an old timer from the dell days (still have my x51v but mainly use it for gps and shows the kids videos on a long drive). i still read the site because it still has the best reviews for devices (hd2 review here is the only decent one i've found). i'm not on the iphone or droid bandwagen (not yet anyways) but there's still good insight here.

Well, I think Steve wins the touchy/feely award – that's a hard story to top. At any rate, I first found this network of sites when I got my shiny new Ipaq rx3115 (I think that's what it was) and I wanted to find others who where using this device to the fullest. I lurked for a long time. Then my ipaq broke and I knew from reading AximSite that I HAD to have the new x51v. I ordered it and again lurked and learned. Eventually I got sucked into the music lyric game and other conversations and made some good friends. I have since gone back to find new ways to use my trusty old Ax. The tech will continue to improve and new gadgets always be just around the corner, but I know that AximSite, uh, I mean MobilitySite will also always be here to show off the new goods, to debate which company has the best stuff and to make life in the frantic world a little more enjoyable.

    Thanks for the good times.

Oh, and what does it say when I still have the AximSite link on my iGoogle bookmark gadget? (No, I'm not lazy!)

  • Adam Ross

The reason i started reading mobilitysite is because i saw Chris's unboxing of the original iphone on youtube and i liked it, so i clicked on the link and started to read the site and now im hooked. I love watching the unboxings and reading about the latest smartphones

  • Jeremy

Wow, I am just now realizing (after reading above) that this is an evolution of Aximsite. Oh, the memories! I need to dig that thing out!

  • pakmane17

Hi, erm…. i'm a relatively new fan of mobilitysite and i first discovered mobilitysite whilst watching one of Chris's youtube unboxings: Sandisk Cruzer Contour. As i turned up the volume on my speakers, i felt that the more i watched it, the more addicted i got. After a while, i came to the conclusion that i was addicted to his accent!!! since watching that unboxing, i have watched almost every single unboxing done by Chris at least 3 times. Yes very sad i know :)

I was given my first smartphone 4 years ago as a hand me down from my mom and instantly i fell in love with my “new” HTC Wizard!( i know, I'm new on the scene..lol..i was only 13 when i got the phone…) I stumbled across Aximsite 4 years ago In my search for freeware, as well as tweaks and found an excellent repository of knowledge that nearly rivals XDA! Over the years i have used mobility site for my mobile news and although i am young(17) I have found that this site has developed(along with influence from other forums such as XDA) my love of mobile devices and mainly Windows Mobile! As of recently I pushed myself into the now and purchased a Tilt 2(aka HTC Touch Pro 2) and Mobilitysite helped me make the decision in my purchase of the Tilt 2. Using the reference pictures and the in depth reviews I was finally convinced that my HTC Wizard needed an upgrade! Thanks for 4 awesome years Mobilitysite, and hopefully many more!

I don't have any fancy answers like others to tell.. but i read Mobilitysite.com to keep myself updated in latest mobile news and technology.

  • Dave Diamond

the thing I like best about your site is how you have all of the OS's represented, and plenty of content on each of them. and of course my favorite is at the top, what can I say — you wanted the truth, didn't you? :)

  • timcallow

Several reasons, to stay on top of the mobility trade (I'm in R&D for an IT company), to find out cool new devices and software that I can try out. I also like the fact that you deal with all kinds of devices for the mobile professional, I can get all my iPhone, WM & Android news in one place.

  • tmroper22

Well, it's hard to find something that hasn't already been said about this site, because obviously there are a lot of great things that people love to come to this site for. But, if I had to pick just one reason why I enjoy coming here is the simple fact that I love Windows Mobile phones! This is great because Mobilitysite always gives great reviews of their devices and no matter what gives an honest opinion, whether it be good or bad. That's it in a nutshell, but again, there are many reasons why this site is bookmarked!

  • jlhorng

I am so addicted to gadgets. Started at iPaq 3800, 4350, … to Tilt. Love reading RSS feed from Mobilitysite.com that provides me with most updated mobile technology information and what I like most is the review. informative yet un-biased. Especially when I am on the bed, on the line, on the bench waiting for my wife finished her shopping, walking my dog, accompanied with my mother-in-law who would like someone watching TV with her, and, the best part, in the restroom.

    Way to go, Mobilitysite.com.

I bought by first windows mobile phone in Feb 2007. This was was the O2 xda mini S. When i started messing around with the OS, one of the first sites I visited was the Dell Axim site(dont know why google took me to Axim all the time). Although the phone models were different, it was windows mobile and I got lots of tips from the forum. Soon I discovered xda developers and then it was not turning back. Today when I visited this contest page I remembered the Axim site and it bought back fond memories of my XDA. I still have it. Thanks mobility

My first PDA was a T-mobile MDA Compact and from that moment (2004) I was hooked. I immediately started looking for info on the OS and devices and ofcourse came to Mobilitysite. Together with The Unwired, PocketPcThoughts and Mobility Today you were my first steps into the world of Mobility. I share the warm fuzzy feelings from that period :)

    - Big fan of iPaqs since my first monochrome 3150 way back in 2001.
    - Mobility Site, PPCThoughts and Brighthand were all valuable sources of information from dedicated owners who could do things with their PocketPCs that I always marvelled at.
    - Still rocking Windows Mobile with my i-mate 8502.
    - Forums like Mobility site remain a beacon to the WM/PPC community.
    - Keep on rockin' baby!!!

I fondly remember the forums and despite my only having posted 60+ times I've really enjoyed being a part of this community. The community is clearly what makes each of these sites work well together under the new mobilitysite umbrella.
My Windows Mobile experience has been immeasurably improved by the forums and the reviews. Getting feedback and keeping track of how others are approaching various issues has been a really great help and I'm extremely grateful for the work that has gone into making these sites work.

bought 1 the day it came out, and still have one at home to browse, and run some reference/e-reader/legacy software apps… handy little device.

I had won a book light, I think, about 3-4 years ago and Chris had sent me an email informing me that I was the winner and asking for my address information to send the item. We went back and forth with emails about 1/2 a dozen times discussing web site operators. It was that personal touch from Chris that I really remember the most.

My favorite moment of mobilitysite, was back when we had aximsite. I was one of the many who had the Dell axim x50v, and when it was announced that the x51v was coming, I was able to use the helpful instructions on this site to upgrade from dell with no cost! Thanks so much Mobilitysite/Aximsite!

I read Mobilitysite I suppose the same reasons everyone else does. Between my husband and myself, we're a multi gadget family. Being in Finland, Nokias are a-plenty, but so are classics like the SE p900 (Yes, it's a classic), iPod Touches, and the Windows Mobile classic that is the iPaq hx4700 (STILL not obsolete with a cooked WM 6.1 ROM). And of course stuff like a Samsung Blackjack, HTC Touch Pro, the list goes on, but that's the stuff I would say is notable. That's plenty of reason to read Mobilitysite right there.

Of course I pull a blank on notable moments, but the slow realization that Dell wasn't continuing with the Axim was rather bittersweet…. or maybe just bitter. Speaking of the hx4700, talk about classic devices. I always meant to get one, but by the time I was ready, Dell Finland quit selling to consumers. The site picked itself up, dusted itself, and found its way. :-)

I could really use an HTC Snap for a variety of reasons. Firstly, I prefer qwerty goodness and seem to be in a minority. No carrier has it on offer here either. My husband is a Windows Mobile skinner, and he could use my HTC Touch Pro to see what VGA icons look like on a tiny screen. You can make the icons, but they always display a little bit differently.

I'm using his Samsung Blackjack right now, but it's got this horrible goo on the screen that won't come off with any of those common household remedies. Why am I using it? Because I prefer the keyboard in that qwerty style, and I actually prefer WM Standard. Using WM Standard, I can use those homescreen themes of his, and they are just so great. He knows how to make a theme I'd use like no one else. That part wasn't in the vows, but I won't complain.

I think WM Pro has lost its way a bit with all this pretend-iPhone nonsense, but WM Standard with its XML homescreens makes it possible for developers and skinners to really offer a lot in terms of customization and ease-of-use. In other words, a highly customizable device that functions very well as a PHONE. I've been ranting about such on twitter earlier this evening, so sorry if this is a rerun. It doesn't mean I'm not right.

So if you see fit to give me the Snap, it'll be well appreciated as one of the few, the proud, the unsung hero that is the qwerty-keyboard WM Standard phone. :) …. If you're not EU-friendly in the contest, my parents are in the US!

I probably won't win, I never win these things, but that's why they're contests. Whoever does win, take care of that phone, the qwerty WM Standard phone is becoming more and more rare these days.

Axim Site and Mobilitysite are two of the earlier WM related site I've visited since I convert from Symbian to WM phone 3-4 years ago. I'm still reading news from Mobilitysite each day, now over Google Reader.

My only venture into handheld gadgetry was inspired by a Google search that brought me to a little site known as Aximsite.com. At the time, the X51v had not yet been released. I surfed and read and surfed some more… for almost a year! I kept reading posts from great forum posters (shout out to Kulnet, Ikehiker, Gigi, psionandy and so many more here!) until I finally sucked up enough courage to make my purchase. If it had not been for continued support from the Aximsite community, my X51v would have been little more than a paperweight… Time after time, I found ways to go the way of the bluescreenofdeath, mess up my wifi and just generally render the poor thing unusable… and time after time, I was able to find a post that would help me bring the little bugger back to life. I still use my X51v (it is the bridge between my home and work schedules to this day) and I still come back to the new incarnation of the best little site that I had ever had the privilege of posting on.
This is not the first time I pay tribute to Chris' brain child – this has always been such a great community.
Cheers all… and a very Happy 7th Chris!

My Fondest Moment actually came a long time ago when Aximsite was still it's own site. Through Aximsite I ended up meeting Patrick J. and Doug G. (justanothermobilemonday) and we've been friends ever since. Without these two guys I'm sure I would never have retained much of an internet presence. Matter of fact I've even been out to Texas and had lunch/dinner with Patrick & his family… so yea, I've met a couple really good friends through the site.

I am new to this site but so far I think it's one of the greatest tech sites on the web. You guys have so much really talented writers and a lot of great supporters =]

  • gkimx3

My fondest memory is actually when I was getting extremely frustrated with my iPhone and was looking for help around YouTube. I then came across the youtube channel, and found some pretty cool videos. I ended up selling my iPhone and getting a new phone that mobilitysite reviewed. :)

I have followed this site (aximsite) since my first ipaq back in 2004. It was not an axim, but the advice and help from forum users and the news often helped me solve the problem anyhow.

I started reading mobilitysite before it existed, as aximsite. While I still use my Axim X5 for geocaching, I follow the site now for ipod touch related items as well as general mobile tech. Its a one stop shop for various needs, which is nice.

I think my fondest memory is when I found out about Aximsite, I had just bought a used Dell Axim X51v and thanks to the site I found out there was a cooked Windows Mobile 6 Rom available for it. I doubt anyone can truly imagine how I felt when I saw I could have WinMo 6 on my old Dell, it was like getting a new device since the CPU was already pretty fast and it had a VGA screen. I think the dude that made the Rom was called Football or something like that (football as in soccer outside the USA).

  • Stephan Habicht

I got my start into the PDA world with Aximsite, buying my first Axim x51V from the classifieds and have been following the site since then, it has always been enormously helpful and I really appreciate the hard work!

I never knew the AximSite cause Im a newb but I loved the family of sites so much that I started with the sister site GotZune that is now part of the Mobility Site conglomerate. I love the content, and personality that each writer brings to the table.
Besides Im looking for a replacement to my HTC Excalibur (S621) that I have flashed at least 25 – 50 times this year already.

My fondest memory was when i first came to mobility site a year ago, at the 13 when i got the exciting news from my parents that i would be getting my first phone in preparation for high school! After checking all the phones that rogers had to offer i starting reading up on some of their smartphones on mobilitysite. This helped me narrow my choices between the blackjack 2 (samsung jack) and the Motorola qh9. Even after recieving he blackjack 2 as a gift i continued to read up on mobilitysite and then becan following chris leckness and mobilitysite on twitter and youtube. To this day I still read up on mobilitysite to get the latest windows mobile and cellular news. Thanks mobility site for providing the net with wonderful news and reviews!!!

  • barthenry

I am completely new to mobility site. My phone is cracked and years old and I need a new one and I'm shopping around.

  • Kevin

With the HP getting back into the game with the iPaq Glisten, in a way you guys are going back to your roots. Too bad Dell no longer sells Axim, I remember them being popular (since there was always a few deals going on every month). Now all we need is Motorola to get back into the game.^^

  • duwenbasden

Nothing beats the WF:HOF crew back in the days…. Oh yeah, especially confusing newbs about our “intelligence”

  • Nemrod

I allways come here to check on the latest news in the mobile world… And then think: “do these guys know everything??”

  • Geek4Life

Starting out, I was a Palm user surfing newsgroups, IRC channels, etc. for information during a time when desired technical information was often hard to come by through mainstream channels. After acquiring a Dell Axim X30, I checked out the Dell-recommended sites and found more of what I had tried to avoid during my Palm years; limited information scattered on malformed websites that never addressed the full scope of issues encountered by real users. Searching for alternatives, I found AximSite, an established yet growing resource of of users spreading news, FAQs, and tips that were unparalleled by other sites. Mostly reading from the outside, I learned much about the Axim, and WindowsMobile in general from the site, considering it to be a small community of those with similar interests and a desire to help one another.

That loyalty, to site and device, led to passionate, yet unfortunately fruitless, requests for WM5 releases for our stalwort X30s in 2005, as well as for the continuation of the Axim line in 2007. Once the most powerful and cost-effective WindowsMobile PDA line, the mighty Axim fell to the smartphone, and AximSite soon followed. MobilitySite has become one of the top sources of information for mobile devices in general, and is now suppoprted/written by many of AximSite's original members, but AximSite's comparatively small size and close-knit nature were characteristics that made it special.

    Rest in peace, AximSite.

Best moment on Mobilitysite was actually on Aximsite. I gave someone some advice on a problem and it worked, they said thanks. Great feeling!

In honesty, I just really enjoy reading tech blogs about games, phones, computers, etc. I'm still fairly new to the site, but I hope to be regular follower!
