Ok, if you weren’t listening to pop music in the 80s, that title might not mean anything. As the rest of the world waits impatiently for their Nooks, myself included, Engadget has some eye candy for you. They have published their “Review” of the Nook.

In the end, the Nook is an intriguing product launched by a powerful force in the world of booksellers, but the initial offering feels long on promises and short on delivery. With the right software revisions, the Nook could be a tsunami, but as it stands right now, it’s only a mild swell.

Engadget pretty much gave it the works in their testing and was overall pleased with the design and looks of the device, but thought that the implementation wasn’t all that.

Based on walking into the local B&N store and seeing a nook desk, with a person evangelizing the product, right at the entrance – you cannot miss it – I'm willing to believe that B&N is making a massive commitment to the Nook, and so I'd guess that there will be software improvements going forward.

If Engadget doesn't want the Nook, I'm sure my wife would love it. :D

P.S. So what 80s song were you thinking of? ABC's “The Look of Love”, Roxette's “The Look”, Prince's “U Got The Look” or something else? The three all have “got the look” lines in them.

I was referring to the Prince tune.
