Here’s a really cool iPhone theme that I just started using. It’s called Etched Base. It’s got a really nice monochrome look. The only real issue is the lack of icons that come packaged with it. It comes with around 200 icons, which isn’t shabby, but coming from Glaskart it’s not many at all. Read on to see the screens and video of this cool theme.
Here’s the video that I shot showing the theme off a little. I am not done finishing up my setup, but the main idea is in place and I am loving it a lot. I like monotone and simplicity, so those really works for me.
Ok, that’s the video, here are the screen shots.
As you can see, my unlock screen is a little different than the default that comes in the package. i just changed up the lettering of ETCHED and added the Mobilitysite logo to give my phone a little better feeling of “mine”. The other screen is the main screen, the springboard. I only have 1 pages of icons because I use Categories and CategoriesSB from Cydia. In the 2nd screen, you can see the WeatherIcon and LiveClock icons that come prepackaged with the theme.
The stock application for the iPhone have icons, but not too many outside of the main programs. Like I said, there are about 200. I plan to make icons from the psd included for my main apps. The 2nd screenshot shows a skinned version of SBSettings. Just like the WeatherIcon and LiveClock icons, it comes prepackaged with the theme.
The only other things that are themed that I’ve noticed is a portion of the iPod player and the volume. I’m sure there is more, but this is just what I have seen thus far.
How do you install this theme?
1. Your device must be jailbroken.
2. Have WinterBoard installed. You can get this from Cydia.
2. Go to Cydia and grab the Etched Base Theme and install it.
4. Open WinterBoard and place a check by the Etched Base Theme.
That’s it. That will get you a basic install. To delve even deeper, you will need to ssh into the iPhone and hack away. I can help with some specifics if need be.
