BGR has some exclusive new details about iPhone OS 4.0 from one of their trusted Apple ninjas.  According to their source there will be:

  • OS-wide multi-touch gestures
  • “A few new ways” to run apps in the background –> Read: (Multi-tasking!)
  • Graphical and UI changes to make navigating the OS easier and more efficient although no specifics were given.
  • The 4.0 update will be for iPhone 3G and 3GS ONLY.  Sorry original iPhone owners! This will however “put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers” and that everyone is “really excited”.
  • The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications.

BG thinks that we’ll be seeing this thing at least previewed next Wednesday and I hope that is correct because I’m excited!
