t-mobile-hd2-Support-918I noticed an article on Pocketnow.com which mentions the bump in Memory on the upcoming T-Mobile version of the HTC HD2. The upgrade to 1 gig of Rom meets the Chassis one specs. for WM 7 which makes it a possibility that this will be the only version getting the updated OS. So I hopped over to HTC and they have the product page up where you can look at the specs and sign up for more info as it is available. Are you planning on getting one or are you going to wait and see what is revealed at MWC in February? Are you done with WM?

one question i have for everyone…. has anyone figured out how to change OS on these cell phones. like can i put android on this cell phone? if yeah, i'll get it in a heartbeat, i just don't have that much confidence in winmo for some odd reason.

  • badersk

The answer is probably yes but it will probably never work right so why would you want to. Just go buy the nexus. almost the same specs. a little less memory.

I'm going to wait, I'm torn between WM and Android. I've used WM since the PPC and understand it's quirks. There are a couple of things I rely on that Android will not do without root but from what I'm reading, WM7 is going to take those from me anyway. Had my carrier introduced the HD2 by now they would have my money locked in for another 2 years but now it's up for grabs and I'm off contract. If I hadn't found that you can't (in most cases) install apps to the memory card I would probably be the owner of a Nexus by now. If the current WM phone I have had more memory, a faster processor and a browser that worked with current web sites I'd be happy to stay with it.

I would be surprized if WM7 breaks software compatability completely, that's out of character for them. But you'll likely not have to wait too long to find out. The Browser is another story, faster processors help but they really need a webkit browser, they seem to render faster and they are light weight. I really hope part of WM7 and 6.5.3 or 6.6 whatever they'll call it will be a new browser.

done with WinMo…haha never. it's the only fun mobile OS. I flash my TP2 at least 3 times a week (EnergyRom over at XDA) and plan on continuing to do so as soon as i get a HD2. Cant wait for the bump in RAM and Screen. And CPU and………

  • badersk

Yeah I feel the same way, I flashed my Tilt2 within 24hours and have found a very good, stable rom and an improved radio firmware. Makes the system fun and exciting.

Anybody thinking of buying this should buy it based on what it is today. There's no guarantee of a WM 7 upgrade (yet). Besides, you may decide that WM 7 isn't for you anyway….

I wouldn't count on a new browser. I can't see Microsoft abandoning IE.

As for other browsers, there was the Webkit-based Iris browser from Torch Mobile, but RIM bought that. You can still get Opera Mobile, Opera Mini, Skyfire and IE upgrades (that provide things like tabbed browsing in IE Mobile), so I don't see that Microsoft needs to include a different browser.

That is true, there is not even a guarantee that XDA will be able to port it if there is not an official upgrade. I would be surprized if they couldn't.

wow killer specs take that chris and anyone else who thinks the iPhone is better than this. unfortunately for me im locked into a 2 year contract with sprint so I can't get this.

  • heybhouse

i'd seriously consider buying it if i can get it without a contract. if not, no chance. i'll wait for an unlocked hd3 that comes with winmo 7 preinstalled – even if it's a long wait.
