htc-magic-twiccaIdeally, I would love a full-featured Android Twitter app with a live-updating widget like the HTC Hero’s Peep but not Peep’s minor limitations. This is were a Japanese development team, R246 Design Lab, fills almost every one of Twitter needs with twicca.

Free and easy to use, twicca’s capabilities include attaching photos and videos from other files or directly from a phone’s camera, searching popular topics, and showing a reply history between me and another user. This app also allows for full control of viewing, editing, and creating lists, which become handy when I realized that sometimes I just want to take a quick glance at the mobile news outlets I follow instead of scavenging my full Twitter friends list for news.

Individual color labels can be set for users I’m following, although the color selection is limited to to only six different shades. Even though I can set the same color label for multiple users, I would like to be able to have more of a color label selection or even create a new color label on the fly.

Customizable settings include Timeline viewing options and status update settings like setting a quoted tweet’s format to “RT tweet (via @screen_name” or any of the other three variations. There’s also hash tag saving behavior, and notification settings that includes an LED option. Although, I would like to see LED color customization as offered in other Android apps like I Tweet!. There’s also plug-in support for users who prefer to use TwitPic as their photo client, as twicca does not automatically default to TwitPic. yFrog is the default video client for any photo or video files uploaded through twicca.

Stable other than a few periodic connection errors if I manually refresh the Timeline, twicca is a great  free Android Twitter client with few other equals. Download twicca through the Android Market on your handset or check out the English twicca Twitter feed @twicca_en.
