Shazam is a “must have” in every Android phone. But I was surprised to see that in my Nexus One the application was not opening Amazon MP3 Store app but Amazon web site where I could not buy anything. After a little bit of research I found that I was not the only one experiencing this issue and   that it’s Amazon the one blocking other applications from using Amazon MP3 Store app (version 1.6), according to this report.

However, it looks like the Nexus One shipped with a newer version of the Amazon MP3 Store app (version 1.6) and this method of linking now results in an exception.

Shazam without a direct link to buy the song is almost useless. I hope that this issue is fixed soon.

  • It's obviously some sort of bug, because the Amazon MP3 link is working fine from my Android 1.5 phone. I inferred from the post headline that Amazon did this deliberately.
  • Shazam without a direct link to buy the song is almost useless.

I completely disagree. I think that the main reason for Shazam is to let you know what song is playing and who the artist is. Maybe it's so you can buy the song (in which case a buy link is nice, but not necessary), but maybe it's because you can't remember who did the song or maybe it's because you want to know who wrote that piece of #$&(&_#@! song.

They should of course fix it if they can, but I'd hardly call the app almost useless if they don't.

May be I think in that way because when I want to know about the song is because I want to buy it. I have bought 99% of my tags.
  • I understand, but isn't getting half the job done still worthwhile? After you know the group and song, you can visit Amazon in the browser and buy the song. It will take a bit longer, but the app still provides value, I think.
