Guys if you are driving, please do not "text". And please, do not try to make a call unless you have it in your speed deal, looking in your contacts will distract you and eventually you may have an accident. But here is a solution, Talking Touch Dialer allows you to navigate in your contacts with very little distraction because it reads the contacts for you, once you find the one that you are looking for, with just a gesture it dials it for you.

tt_dialfullYou can watch a demo here, it’s in Spanish but I can tell you, the program speaks in English better than me! Open-mouthed

You can find it in the Android Market using this barcode:

Or you can get a phone that has a decent voice dialer in the first place. With my Samsung Omnia (and Motorola Q9m before that), I press a button on my Bluetooth headset, speak a command like “Call wife at home”, hear a prompt asking if I said “Call wife at home” and say “Yes” (or press the OK button).

If your phone needs an app to dial safely, that doesn't speak (no pun intended) well for the phone. But I suppose this app is better than nothing if there's no good voice dialer for Android.
