The good news first…it appears that some people in the US are doubly lucky. Not only did they manage to get their preorder in despite first day chaos and AT&T cancelling some orders at random, but they are also going to get their iPhone 4 a day early!
Engadget and sites all over the web are reporting that some iPhone users are getting delivery confirmation Emails from Apple saying they will get the phone on June 23rd, not the 24th.
The emails read as follows:
Dear Apple Store Customer,
You recently received a Shipment Notification email from Apple advising you that your iPhone has shipped.
This email is to confirm that your delivery will occur on June 23rd. Although Apple and FedEx tracking information may currently indicate a later date, you can check the FedEx website the morning of the June 23rd to track your package to your doorstep.
In the event that you will not be available to accept delivery on June 23rd, it may be more convenient to use our pre-sign delivery option by visiting our Order Status website at http://www.apple.com/orderstatus
The Apple Store Team
Typo? Wishful thinking? Really excited FedEx guy? Communist plot? Cruel joke? Who knows, but if you pre-ordered and get your iPhone on the 23rd, come tell us about it, OK?
Now…the bad news.
The Inquirer in the UK is reporting that last week, Apple fans in the UK were told that the June 24th ship date would be pushed back to July 3rd in the UK due to US demand. Now, apparently that date has been pushed even further back, to the 14th of July. However, they didn’t actually announce this slippage to British Apple fans, they just updated the Apple store online in the UK and kept it mum.
Not very cricket if you ask me.
