As always if you want to know something, in the immortal words of Deep Throat, “Follow the Money”….in the mobile world, the money is advertising. In an article about Apple’s new iAd personal money printer, umm, I mean push advertising model, AdvertisingAge talks about the costs of signing up, and lists some of Apple’s first customers (State Farm? Apple is going to push insurance salesmen onto the iPhone? Wow…how alt and edgy. What’s next, Geico?).
However, they also have THIS to say.
The July 1 rollout announced by Apple doesn’t necessarily coincide with the objectives of the marketers themselves, and many are staggering launches on the platform through the fall. Apple is telling marketers that the device considered most promising for advertisers — the iPad — won’t be on the iAd platform until November.
iAd on the iPad in November? Since iAd requires iOS 4 to run, then ipso facto, the iPad will have the new iOS 4 in November. Steve Jobs did say at the iOS 4 rollout that it would come to the iPad in the Fall, so that counts. Fun. Hope they have a jailbreak for it out in advance which includes a way to block location data collection.
Did you see what I did back there? Latin. Latin is cool…like wearing a Fez.
