PW8 Since I live in a part of the world where being prepared for the climate can be a life and death matter, I NEED quality weather forecasting software to keep me informed. That is why I have always had PocketWeather by SBSH Software installed on my Windows Mobile phone. Not only is SBSH one of the leading Windows Mobile software houses, but PocketWeather is one of the best selling WinMo applications of all time and also simply an outstanding program.

Over the last few weeks, I have had the chance to work with the clever folks at SBSH on the closed beta release for their new version of PocketWeather for the iPhone and iPod Touch, and I am very excited for them that PocketWeather has been APPROVED by Apple and will be appearing in the App store in just a few days. This will be the culmination of more then six months of development and testing by SBSH, and Mobilitysite is proud that SBSH has asked us to give you all an exclusive preview of the newest version of PocketWeather.

All the features you loved on the Windows Mobile are back, with some great new additions! With PocketWeather for the iPhone you can get as much or as little information as you need about the current and upcoming weather conditions, at home or anywhere on earth!

PW7

The Summary screen gives you everything you need at a glance!

Temperature and current conditions  for your selected city appear right up top, with a big, easily understandable icon showing you what to expect. Touch the Focus Marker at the top of the screen to add a new city or remove one, and to change cities, you  just swipe left or right on any screen.

Below, you can dig more deeply into the weather conditions, seeing real and apparent high and low temperatures, wind speed and direction, air pressure, humidity and precipitations levels.

At the bottom of the screen you can get an idea of the week ahead with six day forecast giving you just PW6the facts…conditions and high and low temperatures for each day.

Interested in stargazing or photography, click the Sun and Moon button to see the current phase of the moon by name and percentage, the phases for each day in the six day forecast, and the times for dawn, sunrise, zenith, sunset and dusk for today.

Weather 017Looking for a more indepth forecast, then touch the Forecast button to see things in far more depth.

On the Forecast screen you can get an overview of the basic six day forecast, or click Details to get all most of the details you would get in the Summary for each upcoming day in a condensed, easily understood format.

Need to drill down deeper to get an hour by hour forcase, then click the Hourly button.

PW3

Get the key information right here for every hour on the hour. A simple stroke of your finger up and down moves you through time. Each hour disappears up into the previous one as time passes.

PW2By touching the Graphs button, true Weather fans can see complex graphs comparing real and apparent temperatures in easily understood bar graphs, or history buffs can look at month by month breakdowns of average temperature and rainfall back into the past.

PW1Into Maps and radar pictures? PocketWeather has you covered there too, giving you a broad range of maps and images under the Maps button. All the information you could need are right there in graphical form, constantly updated. You can even get a map displaying recent earthquakes!

You can even choose how often different types of information update, to ease strain on your data connection. You can choose to set the current conditions to update every 10 minutes, the forecasts to update every 2 hours, the Maps and images once a month and the Earthquake data once a YEAR! PocketWeather puts you in control.

SBSH made sure to pack PocketWeather with every scrap of weather and climate information you could possibly need, all in your pocket and at your fingertips, for as many cities as you wish.

And the best part? PocketWeather for iPhone will be a FREE download from the App Store. No charge for the application, no charge for all the weather information pushed to you twenty-four hours a day by SBSH, no charge for SBSH’s excellent support and customer service, no charge for software updates. Rather than charging users, the Standard version of PocketWeather is ad-supported.

If you prefer not to see the single ad that is added to every page of the free version of PocketWeather, a one time in-app fee of $4.99 will upgrade you to PocketWeather Pro, which has no ads whatsoever.

PocketWeather for iPhone, simply the best weather application you can find anywhere. Take the weather with you, with PocketWeather. Look for it in the App store over the weekend, you won’t be sorry.
