Remember the Huawei S7 (aka the SmaKit) which made such a great impression back at Computex and was supposed to be released towards the middle of July exclusively through Expansys at the quite reasonable price of $359. Do you also remember how that date was slid back to the END of July?
Well a Huawei tablet IS still set to ship from Expansys at the end of July, on July 30th in fact…but it’s not at the same price. This model is identical to the one originally announced save that it ships bundled with a 32G MicroSD card, and will set you back $459.
As for the cheaper model, it will still be available but it has slid again…by a full month. Expansys is now saying the 7 inch Android tablet on its own for $359 won’t be available until the first week of September.
So I assume that it would take Expansys technicians a full month to remove the SD card? I don’t know if this is a price grab by Expansys or the more expensive model just hasn’t had its shipping info updated yet. Either way, this is not a good sign at all.
If you have your heart set on the SmaKit then go ahead and order the more expensive version assuming it is still available, however I personally would hold off until this gets sorted out.
