htc-mozart-phone4u-2010-10-04-11.30.55.jpg-engadgetIt seems like the last couple weeks you can’t go anywhere online without running into yet another leaked WP7 handset. The one that was outed this weekend is yet another device from HTC, the Mozart. This will join the Mondrian and the HD7 in the rapidly expanding HTC Windows Phone 7 lineup, as well as probably more devices that have yet to be leaked or that I have forgotten about.

The info comes from a PowerPoint slide prepared by a phone dealer in the UK, Phones4U and while the device itself is interesting, I found the bit of internal marketing blurb on the slide to be even more fascinating.

As you can see, Phones4U views 25 as a bit older then their normal buyer (ouch) but is expecting WP7 to be a big seller. I especially like the point that a windows Phone 7 device will be “less obvious” than other choices.

All in all, the Mozart certainly looks solid techwise, if no prodigy. According to the leaked PowerPoint slide, the Mozart will feature:

  • 3.7-inch 800×480 pixel TFT LCD
  • 1GHz CPU (I would guess a SnapDragon or Hummingbird chip)
  • Rear facing 8MP camera with Xenon flash and 720p video recording (a front cam as well? No idea yet)
  • 1300mAh battery
  • 8GB of memory
  • Sensors for ambient light, gravity, compass, and proximity
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • A-GPS
  • 802.11n WiFi

As of now the Mozart will be released in the UK sometime in late October, no word on carrier (if any), bands or price yet…or if it will come to the US as well.

I think you misinterpreted that. The actual text said that the 25-45 range was a bit older than their normal audience. If their “normal” audience is 18-30, 25 is still in there and therefore not old.

But consider how us 50-somethings feel. We're outside of even the “older” range. :(

As for being “less obvious”, doesn't that basically mean “unpopular”? Maybe you could spin it as being a “renegade”, but I'm not sure. I guess we'll see soon enough whether these guys are right or whether Don Reisinger's prediction that Windows Phone 7 will fail is correct.

I interpreted it the way you did, Steve, and felt the same pain that even the top range of Winphone7 is lotsa years younger than I am. I'm thinking then that the phone will be all for social media crowd and less for professionals. I'm following an old trend of MS, that is falling behind and then copying and then smashing the competition and moving ahead. I fear this time however, they are falling behind really bad, and copying too closely, and planning with only average focus group inside the box. I loved my Axim and Zune and could not understand why this total package never really came about right away. There is nothing new here, nothing!

mobilitysite: more anti-MS everyday. whats up with this seriously?

  • http://www.svpocketpc.com Pony99CA

There is NOTHING anit-Microsoft in the above story. I don't know what your problem is, but here's the deal. If you don't stop trolling, I'm going to post your E-mail address and IP address publically.

If you want to discuss the articles or CONSTRUCTIVELY suggest ways to improve things, feel free. But stop your constant whining.

What would u do that for? And people post like this all the time. Have u ever seen ZDNet?

  • http://www.svpocketpc.com Pony99CA

Yes, I've seen ZDNet. I'd like to hold our discussions to a higher standard. Disagreeing with a person is one thing, but you constantly attack. I review every post in the blog and have not seen anybody here post like you do.

Just post in a reasonably polite manner and there won't be a problem. That's all I'm asking for.

    Steve

  • eric12341

Yea but what gives you the right to publically expose my ip and email without my consent. Thats kinda illegal whereas what im doing is not

  • http://www.svpocketpc.com Pony99CA

Because we've asked you to stop numerous times before and you haven't. It's a last recourse to your constant violation of our acceptable usage policy.

This is way off-topic for this post, so I'm not going to address this further. You've been warned, so proceed at your own risk.
