According to an alleged internal slide, Best Buy will be launching the Motorola’s Xoom tablet on February 17th with a price tag of $699.99. Now, this is in the same ball park, price wise as Apple’s 64GB iPad. It’s priced reasonably for what this 10.1-inch 1280 x 800-pixel tablet is packing compared to the iPad. Read on after the break to see an alleged screenshot of Best Buy’s Employee Toolkit, which also shows a date of February 16th as the in-stock date.

So other than the display, what does the Xoom have that's better than the iPad?

Here are some of the other specs: 1GHz dual-core processor, 1080p full HD video playback, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 3-megapixel front-facing camera and be able to be used as a mobile hotspot. There will also be a 4G LTE hardware upgrade coming in the second quarter.

Thanks for the info. It sounds pretty decent, especially if people who buy early aren't left out of the LTE boat thanks to an upgrade.

However, I'm still unsure of the value proposition. I can get a 10+” netbook for far less money (less than 50%) and plug in a USB modem if I need cellular service. Yes, the netbook will be somewhat larger (and may not have the cameras and 1080p playback, although the Xoom doesn't have a Full HD display, either), but the clamshell form factor acts as a screen protector and you get a real keyboard and better peripheral support.

Plus, if I get a Windows netbook, I can run all of my standard Windows programs. Say what you want about the iPhone App Store and the Android Marketplace, but I bet there are still a lot more programs available for Windows.
