Sena has been making popular accessories for quite a few years and have been spoken very highly of. We now have the UltraSlim Pouch for the iPhone 4, so let’s see if their quality still stands to date. Hit the break to dig into our full review on the Sena UltraSlim Pouch!

First, let me break into personal opinion for a minute. I have never really been a fan of cases; I always thought they just added a lot of unwanted bulk to my phone, but I needed something to protect it from scratches and whatnot. I also like to keep my phone ‘naked’ as some would say. This is where the Sena UltraSlim Pouch comes in. I also don’t really prefer the look of cases, I’d much rather keep the original designed unhidden beneath a case at all times. That is why I prefer a pouch-like accessory to other accessories on the market today. Quite frankly, if you have an iPhone 4, why would you want to hide that beautiful design under layers of rubber and plastic?

Design

The exterior look and feel of the Sena pouch is just wonderful. The pouch is made up of two separate genuine leather pieces with the inside being covered in a microfiber-like material, so there’s no need to worry about it scratching your screen, nor your back glass. But we will say this, sometimes we found that it will trap some extra material inside the case and will have it trapped on your screen when you go to pull your phone out. Also, when you put your phone into the pouch, the seam on the side will catch onto the two volume buttons, but it does not affect the rocker since that is not covered while in the pouch. Now, personally I don’t like flashy or ‘over-the-top’ accessories, so the flat black color really gives off a plain, yet elegant look that I really enjoyed. There are other color options if you do want something a little more out there. Some of the color options are: white, orange, green, tan, pink, navy blue, and many more.

Protection

If you’re someone who is clumsy with your devices and you want something that will protect it from numerous falls, this case isn’t for you. We’d recommend something like the Otter Box for that type of protection. But if you’re looking for something to help protect against scratches and don’t want a screen protector, this will help you out in that area. The pouch design covers every inch of glass on both the front and back. And like we said earlier, the inside is covered with a microfiber-like material, so it’s always protected against scratches while inside the pouch. We also liked how it left the top band and two corners open for semi-easy access.

Ease of use

There is no complicated way to put your phone into this pouch like some of the other cases on the market. At first, it is difficult to slide your phone in and out, but after a couple days it was broken in and was much easier to access quickly. One thing we didn’t enjoy was how difficult it was to take the phone out by grabbing the upper two corners. There was a lot of restraint when grabbing it from that area. It was much easier to push up from the bottom of the pouch in the middle and slide the phone out.
Now to wrap it up, let’s go over a few pros and cons.

Pros

  • Slim Profile – Seriously, this is one of the biggest things we enjoyed about the Sena pouch. It added barely any bulk to our iPhone. Adding bulk is a big no, no in our books.
  • Overall design – The overall elegant look of this pouch is very nice. It covers the front and back of the device perfectly, has speaker/mic openings at the bottom, and it leaves the volume rocker visible for easy accessibility.

Cons

  • Protection – This pouch adds close to no real protection if you do end up dropping your device. It  will help against scratches when throw in your bag, or set on a hard surface, but that’s about as far as it goes.

You can pick up the Sena UltraSlim Pouch from either the Apple Store, or off the official Sena website for $29.99; It fits both Verizon and AT&T model iPhone 4s.
