Since the days of the Axim many hoped that Dell would get back in the fray. Hears hoping they offer the value that they had with the Axims. Any way here is what Engadget had to say.

Turns out Mini 3i is only the beginning. Dell has announced plans to create a new Communications Group with a focus on mobile phones and similar portable devices. Current consumer division head and former Motorola exec Ron Garriques will take the helm. Not much else to say at this point, but make no mistake, Dell is now officially in the phone business for the long haul.

Our illustrious leader Chris Leckness will probably throw a party.

After two weeks I must say I have enjoyed this device. Although it is not perfect, it is, in my opinion the perfect replacement for my aging Tilt. I didn’t feel this way about the Fuze because the keyboard was cramped, it felt blocky compare to the Tilt and it still had a 2.8 inch screen (although the resolution had been improved dramatically. The Tilt2 however has all the right hardware and software upgrades for me to make it a worthwhile purchase. This won’t be a comparison review as I feel many are doing these days, (well other than compare it to the original tilt), but a review of this device standing on it’s own from a person who still likes to use Windows Mobile. We’ll talk about the hardware and the software, the good and the bad what I like and dislike about it as a whole. So let’s get started – after the break

Seems some are having speaker problems with the new Droid phone in which a reboot seems to fix it for a while. Here is what Engadget has to say:

It’s no reason to panic just yet, but apparently a good amount of people are having trouble with the external speaker on their Motorola Droid cutting out for no reason. It seems to be software-related, and sometimes a reboot fixes it temporarily, but it’s a scary problem for people relying on the handset as an alarm clock (or, you know, to receive calls), since you never know when it will strike next. For its part it seems that Motorola is replacing handsets that have the issue, though that’s no guarantee of escape from the clutches of silence. Let’s hope Motorola updates us with a software patch or some other serious solution soon — people need to hear that robotic "Droooiiid" alert sound — and meanwhile let us know if you’ve been seeing a similar issue.

Engadget is taking a poll so if you are having issues head on over and vote

What make this review interesting, is Paul is not a fan of Windows Mobile and has stated numerous times he thinks the iPhone is the best smartphone on the market. He also makes some revealing statements as regards the reasoning for the default today screen, which makes one think Microsoft is working toward tighter integration between its platforms.

So I was reading the Tech News over on Yahoo and I saw this article talking about at&t and how they offer different plans for different cities in an effort to help out with its Data Network problem and noticed this statement made by John Donovan the Chief Technology Officer for at&t:

“If a network is not fully loaded, it’s hard to know exactly how much demand is out there,” Donovan said. “You put all you can in the ground, and they eat it all up, and then you put more in there, and they eat it all up.”

The explosive growth in use of mobile data, which Donovan said has risen 4,932 percent at AT&T over the past 12 quarters, or in other words three years, has forced the carrier to throw out its traditional planning models, he said.

So my question is, could anyone’s network have been prepared for a 5000% increase in data traffic? What do you think?

Well I had to send the Pure back and I must say, other than not having a hardware keyboard it was one of the best Smartphones I have used. However to help get over it I now have in my possession the Tilt2 and I must say it is a wonderful piece of hardware. I will be doing a full review later, but I wanted to post some first impressions of the device. Although it is larger than my Tilt and much larger than the Pure it feels good in my hand and has the best slide out keyboard I have ever used. The large 3.6 inch screen is beautiful it is easy to read even outside. It is heavy but not too much so and it truly looks like a professional device. I am also enjoying the menu improvements of WM 6.5 although it does lag a bit here and there. So for you the readers, it there is anything you would like to know about the Tilt2, WM6.5 or a piece of software you would like to know if it runs on it, please post it in the comments.

Well it speaks for itself, if you live in the UK you can pick up this coveted device in a week. I do however think the ability to download from the Android market is a misprint. Any of you plan on upgrading?

News from Palm the Pixi will Be available on 11/15 for as low as $99 on contract. Of course running the new Palm WebOS. I would be interested to see if the keyboard feels better than the Pre since it is not recessed for the slide mechanism. Anyway, is this the phone you have been waiting for? With the Pre now at $149, do you think it is at the right price point?
