Motorola Devour, Unboxing and 1st Impressions

Posted by Chris Leckness on Mar 05, 2010 | 11 Comments

Verizon’s newest Droid is coming real soon. It’s the Motorola Devour. It is very similar to the Motorola Droid, but this one is running a slightly older Android build (1.6), a weaker camera, and the screen isn’t quite as nice. The main differences are that the Devour is running MotoBlur, a custom version of Android focusing on social media and in my opinion, a much better design and keyboard. Read on for my 1st...

AT&T Announces their 1st Android Phone, The Motorola Backflip

Posted by Chris Leckness on Feb 18, 2010 | 12 Comments

Android is finally coming to AT&T. Some thought that that the Dell Android phone might be AT&T’s 1st, myself included, but Motorola made it 1st. If you remember the Motorola Cliq that was announced on T-Mobile last year, they have their own custom Android release called MotoBlur that focuses on social media interaction. Dan H shared some info about the Backflip last month already, but AT&T made it official...

Windows Phone 7 Announced – Hmm Not too bad!

Posted by Chris Leckness on Feb 15, 2010 | 22 Comments

There has been plenty of rumors and speculation about this highly anticipated release and now they can be put to rest to focus on what is to come. I sure hope it can recapture my interest in Windows Mobile and Zune.   Read on for a video and the press release. Stay tuned to my twitter account (@chrisleckness) and Mobilitysite for what I can share from my trip to Seattle this week. I am getting ready to fly out to...

Palm Pre Headed to AT&T Next

Posted by Chris Leckness on Feb 12, 2010 | 9 Comments

The Sprint exclusive on the Pre has come and gone. Verizon has it now in the form of the Pre plus and now Information Week is reporting that the Pre is headed to AT&T. Palm’s stock rose Thursday morning when Citi called for the AT&T to get the Pre in May. The Pre recently launched, along with its sister device the Pixi, on the Verizon network two weeks ago and results haven’t been that great. Citi...

I just bought a Dell Alienware Aurora ALX the other day and this will most likely be my next Dell purchase! Head over to Engadget for a full spread of this beauty! AKPC_IDS += "36037,"; Read More →

Google Buzz Announced

Posted by Chris Leckness on Feb 09, 2010 | 12 Comments

It looks like Google is taking another step towards internet TOTAL domination. Looks like Google Buzz is going to attempt to chop the heads off of Twitter, Facebook, Friend Feed, FourSquare, and a few others. In addition, I can see this putting Google Wave into the closet. Initially, Google Buzz will work directly with your web Gmail interface, but they also have version ready for Android and iPhone. Nothing even mentioned...

Microsoft MVP Summit 2010

Posted by Chris Leckness on Feb 01, 2010 | 31 Comments

I will be in Seattle from Feb 15th – Feb 20th, 2010 for the Microsoft MVP Summit. This will most likely be my last year as an MVP, so I hope to make this one the most memorable. I urge all of the Windows Mobile folks to give me some input on what you want me to give for feedback if afforded the opportunity. I have plenty to say on my own, but your thoughts might bring additional insight as well. I am not 100% sure,...

HTC HD2 Will Get Windows Mobile 7 and WinMo 6.5.3 Confirmed

Posted by Chris Leckness on Dec 30, 2009 | 9 Comments

A tweet from an HTC Marketing type in Russia indicates that the HD2 will be the only “communicator” to get Windows Mobile 7 when it’s available. Just like Engadget, I would really hate to know that the HD2 is the ONLY current device that will be retrofitted. The Touch Pro 2 and others deserve the WinMo 7 love too, right? At any rate, here’s the translated tweet. For Diamond 2 firmware is not planned. Of the existing...

Off Topic: Gaming and Hobbies

Posted by Chris Leckness on Dec 30, 2009 | 6 Comments

This morning, I read an article over at Engadget that was talking about Windows Mobile and Xbox playing nice together. This is based off a help wanted ad by Microsoft. Too bad I just bought my kids a PS3 for Christmas. Even though they have over 40 Wii games, the PS3 was calling their names, and mine. My son beat me 144-110 in NBA Live 2010 last night. How embarrassing. This had me thinking about posting a little article...

The 8GB iPhone 3GS Rumor Was True Afterall.

Posted by Chris Leckness on Dec 30, 2009 | 4 Comments

Back in November, there was a rumor that surfaced that AT&T and Apple were teaming up to put an 8GB 3GS model out with a $99 price point to compete with the Android handsets that hit the scene. The buzz back then was for the Christmas rush, but this deal and 3GS capacity never surface. Go figure. Well, part of the rumor looks to have come true… AKPC_IDS += "35262,"; Read More →

PC World Top 10 Phones… WinMo Almost Shut Out.

Posted by Chris Leckness on Dec 28, 2009 | 17 Comments

Wow. Talk about a change in the times. The Droid beat out the iPhone 3GS (I am sure this is based mainly on marketing hype since it’s not better than 2-3 of the phones on the list). Windows Mobile nabbed one spot, number 9. It’s not a device you’d expect either. It’s the Samsung Omnia II (Marilyn’s Review), yes the one that was recently released on Verizon. I caught wind of this article from last week over...

iPhone Theme: Etched Base

Posted by Chris Leckness on Dec 26, 2009 | 15 Comments

Here’s a really cool iPhone theme that I just started using. It’s called Etched Base. It’s got a really nice monochrome look. The only real issue is the lack of icons that come packaged with it. It comes with around 200 icons, which isn’t shabby, but coming from Glaskart it’s not many at all. Read on to see the screens and video of this cool theme. AKPC_IDS += "35176,"; Read More →

LG eXpo Video 1st Look Part 2 – Software Tour

Posted by Chris Leckness on Dec 25, 2009 | 5 Comments

Not much to see here, just a short brief software overview of the LG eXpo from AT&T. I have to admit that this device is starting to grow on me. The keyboard on this one is phenomenal. It’s fast and works just fine. Too bad I have to send it over to Steve Borders for his expert review real soon. Jack Cook has one as well and he told me today while we were exchanging Christmas Greetings that he really likes...

Apple Tablet Rumors are heating up again eh?

Posted by Chris Leckness on Dec 24, 2009 | 8 Comments

When the rumor mill keeps creating something, you might as well build it Apple, even if you really didn’t want to. I heard that TechCrunch is looking for a new hardware partner for the CrunchPad. Interested? Yes, there are new rumors that lead to an announcement in January. Business Insider says that Apple has been prepping devs for a a demo next month where they will show something that won’t use the “fixed”...

Nexus One Specs Revealed. Invitation Only?

Posted by Chris Leckness on Dec 24, 2009 | 13 Comments

Now here’s one that fits the Google style. No, not a 3 year beta, not another small start up buy out, no none of that. What we have here might be another one of Google’s famous “invite only” services. You know, like Google Wave or one of the other invite only programs Google has buzzed with this method. According to Engadget, that might be the case with the “Google Phone”, the Google Nexus One. because we’ve...
