Just in case you didn’t want to get out into the wild shopping traffic today and now feel like you’ve missed something, hurry up and get over to Amazon.com for their deals. You can grab a Nokia N900 for $549, that’s an unlocked price and is $100 off the normal price. This is a hot new phone I am trying to get in for review too.

Me, I didn’t get anything. I had to work. My wife spent time online shopping though. Nothing to note really. I get enough junk throughout the year that this day isn’t that special to me personally. I have enjoyed seeing all the lines via twitter photos!

Don’t get me wrong, Gizmodo puts out some good opinions, reviews, scoops, and all but they’re not really known for putting out “guides”. I am glad they are out of the stage of publicizing any sex related gadget that they could find though and doing stuff like the post I am going to mention here. Anyhow, today I found a really interesting sounding post over on Jason Langridge’s blog. This post goes over how to do a back up on Windows Mobile, Android, Palm WebOS, Symbian, Blackberry, and iPhone. Most that have smartphones running one of those operating systems probably already know how to back up their phone, but this handy guide is still quite helpful.

iPhone 3GS SUPREME – The worlds most expensive phone

I am going to give some unnecessary coverage to another crazy phone that only the rich can appreciated, but us common folk can laugh at. If I was to get my hands on one of these for free, I would sell it immediately (if I could find a sucker), pay off my house, buy a Harley, quit my day job, give some cash to charity, and then buy a regular iPhone 3GS. This thing would cost you 3.2 Million dollars. What a waste.

Priced at £1.92 million , 10 months in the making , the whole casing was created with 271 grams of 22ct solid gold . The front bezel houses 136 flawless diamonds colour F ,which total to a massive 68 cts . The rear logo in solid gold has 53 flawless diamonds amounting to 1ct and the front navigation button is home to a single cut very rare diamond at 7.1 cts. The chest which houses this unique handset is made from a single block of Granite , in Kashmir gold with the inner lined with Nubuck top grain leather , which weight is a massive 7kg. Get the HTC Droid Eris Andorid Powered Phone Free

If you are not already a Verizon customer, you can get the HTC Droid Eris absolutely free. That’s just the hardware though. You still have to get a voice plan and data plan. With Verizon’s Nationwide Select 900 plan and the unlimited data plan, my monthly bill would be almost $125.

Anyhow, this deal is at Letstalk.com and the Eris isn’t the only deal to be had. There are a couple phones that you get paid to take off their hands as well as a couple hot phones for cheap too. The Storm 2 is also free with a contract. All this relies on you not already being a customer though.

Back to the Droid Eris though, this is basically a rebranded HTC Hero like the one Marilyn reviewed recently. It’s running Andorid 1.5 has a 528mhz Qualcomm processor, has a 3.2” capacitive HVGA screen, 512MB ROM / 288MB RAM, a 5 megapixel camera, and even comes with an 8gb MicroSD card!

Let me remind you though, these great deals are usually only good for new customers and you have to sell your soul in the form of contracts to get them.

HTC HD2 Video 1st Look – Initial Device Setup

The HD2 comes with a super setup utility that goes through setting up your mail, your Wi-Fi connections, your carrier, and even your social media sites. There is a tutorial on how to use the onscreen keyboard too. The device is really thorough and it would be a shame not to share that aspect with you too. Hit the break to see this 10 minute video. HTC HD2 – Photo of a sheet of paper

One of the problems with the HD2 that has surfaced is a pinkish tint in the center of pictures taken with it’s camera. I don’t use cameras on my phones too often, but I did have a request to see if my demo is experiencing this issue. I took a photo of a piece of paper and here it is…

Both photos were taken with nothing changed on the HD2’s camera. The photo on the left was without my overhead and side lights on and the one on the right with them on.

The pinkish hue is present on both. This issue has already been addressed as a software issue and HTC is supposedly working on a patch to clear it up already. I can’t confirm this 1st hand, but that’s what the interwebz are telling us. I will know more about it after the holiday hopefully.

The HD2 has landed. We’ve finally got our fat, grubby mits on the holy grail of Windows Mobile for 2009. We have the HTC HD2 in hand and yours truly gets to give it the look over. I have passed on some stellar phones this past year to allow our other great guys and gals to get into the action, but Thanksgiving or not, I ain’t sharing this one. Sorry folks!

Happy Thanksgiving to our all readers on behalf of the staff here at Mobilitysite. Without you guys, this site would not be what it was back in the Aximsite days and it definitely would not be what it is today, almost 7 years later. This ride all started out on Aximsite in December 2002, then I created Mobilitysite in April of 2005. Slowly but surely, Aximsite faded into Mobilitysite and here we are 7 years later, still kicking. For this opportunity, I am truly thankful. I am sure I speak on behalf of all the contributors to Mobilitysite when I say, THANK YOU, the readers!

Most importantly, I want to thank my family for putting up with this ridiculous obsession that I have for mobile tech and building sites that end in the word site. My wife has been all too tolerable to all this over the years and my kids have been forgiving as well. As they get older, I am neglecting the site more and more in attempts to spend more time with them. Thanks Bonnie, Brittney, and Brett!

Still important… From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all the volunteers that assist me here at Mobilitysite. You guys are the glue that keeps this all together. I know and you know that all these readers aren’t here to hear me blab about my obsessions. Thanks guys!

Samsung Moment Review – Do you have a moment?

Reviewing this phone has been a pleasure. I passed on reviewing the HTC Hero on Sprint because of the absence of a physical keyboard. That and the fact that Marilyn was looking forward to reviewing it too. The Hero was a great phone, but I had my eyes set on this Sprint Android powered phone. The nice looking keyboard lured me in, I admit it.

The Samsung Moment is an Android powered smartphone on the Sprint network that features a slide out QWERTY keyboard, an AMOLED screen, and all the other things that you’d expect from a modern smartphone. Maybe I should mention that it’s got one of the fastest non-Snapdragon processors out there, an 800mhz speedster.

So, we have all these features packed into an affordable phone, why have you never heard of it? Simple, there was so much buzz with the HTC HD2, the DROID, and others that it was launched with little fanfare. Even the much anticipated Blackberry Storm 2 was drowned out with all the DROID madness. Well, I noticed this one and decided to take if for a test drive. How did it perform? Read on…

Yes, you read that right. Wal Mart is selling the Tilt 2 for 1 cent. Take that offer, get a $100 rebate from HTC and you have a hot phone and you make $99.99. Sounds like the best deal ever if you ask me.

Now this isn’t exactly getting $99.99 absolutely free, that part comes from the HTC trade in program I posted about the other day. I mean, if you qualify and plan to do it anyhow, it’s a sweet deal.

Motorola Droid Unboxing and Hardware Tour Video

The Droid has finally invaded Mobilitysite. Well, there are already a few Droid owners contributing to Mobilitysite, but they haven’t gotten around to sharing their thoughts yet. Maybe they are too busy enjoying the phone. Even though I got sick of all the buzz and ad saturation of this Droid launch, I feel the device is one that I would considering using longterm. I am not going to say much about this, but if you are interested, hit the jump to see. It’s not all that bad, it involves a little foul language, but hey… I know some might not appreciate it. I find it’s funny and props to the guy that took the time to get it set up.

Merging
In other news, I am going to go forward with merging iPhoneMVP and GotZune into Mobilitysite. I will provide some filtering of content as well as separate RSS feeds. I won’t do this until I have it set up right. Really though, Zune news is slow unless it’s launch time and iPhone News is everywhere already. What we’ll have for iPhone is mostly reviews, tutorials, and commentary.

Our anniversary (I am going to quit calling it a Birthday) is coming soon. So far we have 5 Pantech Matrix Pro Smartphones and an HTC Snap to give away. More to come…
