iPhone clone with a full keyboard

Posted by ctitanic (left mobilitysite) on Oct 14, 2009 | 3 Comments

Like I said in my previous post, sometime the clones have more features than the original devices.  Known as the DaPeng T2000 Wi-Fi TV Cellphone, the actual phone itself retails for around 150USD through Western retail channels, less on the streets of Shenxhen, and is in fact very similar to a host of iPhone clones floating around the markets of China with specs that measure up fairly well against any of them....

The Chinese Black Market Exposed

Posted by ctitanic (left mobilitysite) on Oct 14, 2009 | 3 Comments

One of the webpages I follow in my RSS Reader is Shanzai.com, one of the reasons is very simple, you can’t fight the reality, almost 90% of all electronics that we own are made or the components are made in China. In another hand, China is the mother of all the clones available in the world and lately the quality of these clones is at the same level and sometime even higher than the original devices. Shanzai.com is...

Playing DVIX in 7MC

Posted by ctitanic (left mobilitysite) on Oct 12, 2009 | 1 Comment

No, this is not a “how to” note or anything like that. Windows Media Center for me is something completely new. I have been using UMPCs and Tablet PCs for the last 3 years and on them this program does not work to well so I never tried. And probably that’s the best thing that happened to me because my first encounter with MC has been with 7MC or Windows 7 Media Center. A version of MC totally renovated by Microsoft....

Posted by ctitanic (left mobilitysite) on Oct 07, 2009 | 1 Comment

According to this post from Shanzhai page,  there are plans to release a nettop using the Via C7 processor with the new chipset VX855 which should have a performance equivalent to what we have seen in the nVidia ION, recently tested by me in a netbook kindly provided to me by Ruvo. Our contacts on the backstreets of Shenzhen, China have alerted us to the impending release of a shanzai-made mini-desktop PC that...

Keep your Android optimized

Posted by ctitanic (left mobilitysite) on Oct 07, 2009 | 3 Comments

AndroidGuys has put together a list of tips to keep your Android phone optimized.  This is simply a general list of things that I notice on new users’ phones that really brings them to a stand-still. (Especially when you are guilty of all of them at once!)  I understand that everyone’s experience of their Android phone and what they use it for is different; however, the more you give your droid to think...

85% of Mac users own a PC

Posted by ctitanic (left mobilitysite) on Oct 06, 2009 | 13 Comments

The statistics come from the research firm NPD Group and they were published recently at The Inquirer page. This means that 85 per cent of Mac users have a pragmatic approach to their machines and use the best tool for the job at hand, whatever they want when they want it. The study also revealed what I always suspected, the average household income of those with Macs was around $100,000 and having a Mac was a status...

Does the nVidia ION really help?

Posted by ctitanic (left mobilitysite) on Oct 05, 2009 | 4 Comments

We have seen lately some hardware makers switch from the Intel video chips or the SIS graphic chips to the nVidia ION and some of you have asked if that helps. I’m currently testing the Ruvo Mini Cap 7 but using the nVidia ION Graphic Chip instead of the SIS 672 and the next two pictures show how the W7 graphic scores changed depending on what chip the device was using. Posted by ctitanic (left mobilitysite) on Oct 03, 2009 | 1 Comment

We all like to see what’s inside of our devices, lets face it. But here is the thing, dissamsabling them is easy, what’s hard is putting them back to how they were before. The above picture of the Benq S6 MID was shot by a young lady that loves to strip down her devices. And let me tell you, this picture is the most decent one. Check the rest here. Microsoft AV Released

Posted by ctitanic (left mobilitysite) on Sep 30, 2009 | 5 Comments

I have been so busy that I had not posted anything about the release of Microsoft Security Essentials. I beta tested the product, no bad. The best thing is that it’s free and you don’t have to provide an email to download it or register anything and it does not expire after a year. These are good points, believe it or know. Every time you provide your email you are getting more spam, more chances of getting spywares,...

What happens when you use the wrong tool

Recently the University of Princeton ran an experiment to see how good the Kindle was for the educational system. And read carefully my words, “how good the Kindle was”. And I said this because after reading this comment from one of the students participating in the experiment you will end into the same conclusion where I ended. “Much of my learning comes from a physical interaction with the text: bookmarks, highlights,...

Installing W7 in a Ruvo MiniCap 7 using a nVidia ION

Posted by ctitanic (left mobilitysite) on Sep 27, 2009 | Leave a Comment

As you may recall I already had the chance of checking the version of this machine using a SIS graphic chip which was Ok but never up to the level of the one I’m currently checking. The facts that it uses a HDMI port to connect to your TV, an ION chip from nVidia that can handle 1080P without any problem and a size that allows you to perfectly hide it in anywhere makes this the perfect Media Center. The installation...

Viliv S10 Convertible Netbook

Posted by ctitanic (left mobilitysite) on Sep 24, 2009 | 1 Comment

They did well calling the Viliv S10 a convertible notebooks because what’s not for sure is a TabletPC. Why? Because this device does not have a HID compliant driver to handle its touch screen and as result you won’t ever experience all the touch screen features included in Windows 7. eBook sells more copies than book

Posted by ctitanic (left mobilitysite) on Sep 21, 2009 | 4 Comments

Yes, it’s a fact reported by the Spanish Blog Clipset. The eBook “Lost Symbol” by Dan Brown has sold more copies than the actual book in Amazon. This means a lot. This means that Kindle is the best move that Amazon has done in a long time. This means that we are witnessing a shift in the mentality of many readers that are choosing to go green instead of going with paper copies of their books. AKPC_IDS += "27846,"; Read More →
