I recently picked up a Southwind Bluetooth headset from Cingular when I bought my Blackjack. It jumped out at me because it was only $39.99 and it looked pretty nice. I figured I would eventually return it because i was not confident in the fact that it would be very good. Boy was I shocked!! Not only does it come with three colors for the face of the headset but it actually sounds great and looks pretty good too.

I have used it so far with a Nokia E62 and my Blackjack and it has been PERFECT so far. Even with the phone on the opposite side of my body I get either no or very little static. Battery life has been great and the system that they use to let you wear the headset in numerous ways as well as clip it to yourself is the best i have seen in a while.

Bottom line, for $39.99 this is the best headset on the market, and would make a great stocking stuffer!

Ok, so over the past few weeks I have seen a million comparisons and reviews of the new Blackjack from Cingular. Every one of them makes the obvious Q comments. I am here to say one thing…..

THE BLACKJACK IS THE BEST OVERALL PHONE I HAVE EVER USED…. PERIOD!!!!!

I have had just about every phone I can think of since the old samsung i300 phone right up through the treos, blackberries, 6700’s, and so on.

I had a lot of fear switching to the Blackjack with my previous smartphone experiences with the mpx220 and the 3125. While they both had upside they were just not a match for the ppc phones on the market. They were just to underpowered and the UI was not fully developed.

All of this has changed with the Blackjack. With the UI customizations, the great qwerty keyboard and the pre loaded software the Blackjack has blown me away. Usually within the first two weeks I have identified numerous issues and have developed buyers remourse and started thinking about the next device coming down the pipeline…. Not this time. I have loved every second of it and continue to find more things that I like.

Bottom line, if you are a ppc guy who is scared to take the jump, don’t be. You will not be dissapointed.

I got a 3125 about a week ago and up to this point I have been very pleased. I have been very curious about the quality of the the stereo bluetooth headsets I have seen. When I bought the 3125 and had a chance to play with the music buttons and interface I knew I wanted to at least check out stereo bluetooth. WOW, I was very supprised at the sound quality of the spider. In addition the range was amazing, I am able to go to anywhere in my house with NO STATIC!!. This is huge because I usually can’t get more than 5ft from my Plantronics 510 without horrible static.

I have used it quite a bit over the last couple days and have found no flaws whatsoever. If you have an A2DP capable phone I would highly reccomend checking these out. Here is a link to the Radio Shack listing.

I just came across this post on Phonescoop.com and was blown away by this phone. One of my biggest problems with my ppc-6700 and all slide out keyboard phones is the lack of a numeric keypad for dialing. I had the LG vx-9800 and liked the form factor but the lack of windows was a deal killer for me. This looks like it builds on that idea, and adds windows 5.0. I was very excited to see that the CDMA version is going to come out first, I can only hope that Sprint gets this one right away!! Click here to see Phonescoops article on the phone.

$6.95 "download protection fee", you gotta be kidding me. I have been a long time user of handango and have never had a problem with them in the past, until today!! Four months ago I went on a little software spree and bought four titles within a month. Everything went great, the software downloaded fine, and I went on with my business. Today I had to re-download a title from the spree so I logged in to my control panel, went to recent purchases and much to my dismay, was hit with a screen asking me to pay a $6.95 download protection fee to re-download my software. W.T.H is going on with that??? I can’t help but feel like I am being ripped off!

So, due to this money hungry action I will no longer be doing business with Handango! I know of plenty of other sites (pocketgear.com) that take great care of their customers, and I will be giving them my busiiness from now on.

Good Luck Handango, i know I am not the only one who is upset about this.

"…the idea behind the Navizon model is fairly simple: some users who have a GPS device are mapping the wireless landscape in their neighborhoods so that other users who don’t have a GPS will be able to use a positioning system that works without a GPS by triangulating Wi-Fi and/or Cellular signals. Like in every community, there are the people who do the work and others who benefit from it. Starting today, users who map data with a GPS device will receive cash rewards from those who don’t contribute data but want to utilize the information as a virtual GPS."

Navizon is offering it’s customers a new way to pay for their service. What used to be a free product will now cost you $19.99/mo, or you can use there rewards program to decrease your costs. If you have been thinking about a navigation system and don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars this may be worth a try!

I was recently very excited when I saw instructions on downloading the new NFL Mobile application from Sprint. It said text NFL to 7777 and await a link to download the application. A few minutes later I got a familliar reminder of the constant lack of support from carriers in giving us Windows Mobile users access to premium content such as ringtones, screen savers or in this case Mobile NFL.

The message said that "my handset was not currently supported". I suppose after all of my years of using these devices I should have expected it, but come on, it’s the NFL we’re talking about here. Not to mention the fact that we are on the cusp of a great fantasy football season. I guess they assume that because we have data access we would not want the option to buy there content.

I was sure I was not the only person out there who felt this way, and I was right. After a little looking around I found a fellow group of disenfranchised ppc-6700 owners. They had begun calling and emailing the poor sprint employee who was unlucky enough to have his number listed on the press release for NFL mobile. My understanding is that he eventually replied stating "that they are working on future support for our devices". As of today I still have no NFL mobile.

So the message is…. Support our $500+ multimedia devices with THE LATEST MULTIMEDIA!!!

I recently came across the new Windows Live Mobile Beta on Pdaphonehome. There are two parts to this new program. The first part is a new mobile version of msn messenger, It has a great user interface and seems to be very stable so far. The second part is a portal that aggregates all of your MSN contacts, all of your local email accounts, Messenger, Windows Live Search and an RSS news portal. As of now you have to register and be approved to participate in the beta but I am thinking the final version should be released pretty soon.

Here is a link to the download area.
