SPB Mobile DVD is fast and it works, I converted Stargate to both AVI and WMV formats and it worked flawlessly both times. Audio was in sync with the video, the overall size was nice and small and the quality was pretty good, at least for the WMV version…

And here again another week has gone by, so that means it’s time to take a look at another program that is supposed to help you take your videos with you on the go.

This week I have Extra DVD Ripper Express and it does have some nice features, it’s easy to use, but the end product is junk, the final ripped and converted movie is way out of sync to the point it is un-viewable. Some movies that are out of sync aren’t too bad, maybe annoying at times but the final product of Extra DVD Ripper Express is so out of sync… I’m sure you’ve all seen the old Godzilla movies or other Japanese with English voice overs where their lips move and the audio just doesn’t match the lips. Well the end product of Extra DVD Ripper Express is a lot worse than that, to the point where people are talking in the audio but the characters aren’t, or a male talks but yet a female character is moving her lips.. Kinda funny for a few seconds, but not worth much in the end.

But continue on to see some screen shots, and a bit more information, but I’m not getting too in depth with a product that basically doesn’t work…

Good Monday Morning!!

Yep another Monday is here, we made it through the weekend and we’ve got a new week ahead of us to be productive and make some money hopefully!

So let’s start this week of by giving one of our beloved readers a Triforce!

I’ve got one that is patterned with light yellow and light green, an interesting look really that’s sure to clash with most any outfit!

Anyway, I’ll let this one go until tomorrow morning, but you’re gonna have to do something for us, make us laugh! :) Since it’s a blah Monday morning and we all hate Mondays, I want you to tell me a joke, leave a joke in the comments, nothing dirty or off-color please, this is a G rated site (I think..)

The winner will be picked randomly so it doesn’t even matter if the joke is bad… I think we just need to liven up Monday for everyone!

EDIT: and the Winner is Dan.. and his Joke wasn’t to bad either!

A local mom and pop family florist in little italy was doing pretty well. It had for the past 30 years. Shortly after that 30th anniversary another shop opened down the street. Turns out it was run by a group of monks. They said they were selling the flowers of god. Needless to say, who wouldn’t want to buy flowers from god straight from a monk. Their sales sky rocketed. The local family’s business suffered their worst sales ever. They pleaded with the monks to shut down and move but they refused. They had flowers from god. Being from little italy, they local florist had connections. They sent their cousin Hugh down to talk to them. He “convinced” the monk florist that they should take their business elsewhere, and they did. After that “convincing” and the departure of the monks, the local families sales were better than ever. What’s the moral of the story?

Hugh and only Hugh can prevent florist friars….

Dan, email me your shipping info at kbrozio [@] gmail.com

Is it any good? Well not really honestly… In my time with it I’ve found it doesn’t quite work the way ‘I want it to’ and that’s what counts right? The end users needs are what should be taken into consideration above all else.

I ran the program three times to convert my movie to PPC format, all three times I ran into problems and virtually an un-viewable end product. After three tries I figured I wasted more than enough of my time with this product and it was time to move on to something else… but continue on to check it out and see exactly why I would avoid this product..

Ok, so I mentioned this quite a while ago, but here’s the first in my series of video encoding or re-encoding programs. There are many out there to choose from and I’ve got several of them to look at, both free and pay. I’m not going to go in major depth with all of this, I’m trying to look at these as someone who is ‘new’ to this sort of thing and wants to take their movies with them. I want to mainly focus on the ease of use and the time it takes to convert your movies to portable format, but of course we’ll focus on end quality as well as that is a part of the overall experience.

First up in this series is DVD Ripper Ultimate from Xilisoft, I’m not going to copy and paste all of the information from their web site, if you wish to read more you can stop over HERE and read the detailed specs and features if you wish.

So continue on to learn what I did about Xilisoft DVD Ripper Ultimate…

(...) Read the rest of Xilisoft DVD Ripper Ultimate (1,098 words)

Ok, So I’ve had Winterface for a few weeks now installed on my Tilt, in that time I’ve started to write this review a couple times, but since I’ve gotten it Vito Technology, the company that makes it has sent me two more updates, so I had to postpone the review a bit.

I started out with version 1.0, then got v1.01, now I’ve got v1.02 running on my cellphone.

A few changes have been made to the interface or Winterface since the initial release, mainly tweaks with the first version, then finally with v1.02 they added two new icons actually, a Network name/strength icon and a Bluetooth on/off icon.

The problems that were mentioned before are mostly not there anymore with the revisions, but the bug with the Battery icon leading to ’sliding sounds’ is still there, that is an HTC TyTn II / ATT Tilt specific problem and I am working with them to fix it. They sent me a little program that analyzes what’s going on when I access the interface and spit out a file or report for me to send to them. The other small thing is not a problem but more of a preference, you still cannot wrap around with the interface, in other words at the home screen you cannot go left, only right and then back again, it won’t wrap around to the last page. With that in mind let’s continue on to the actual review, I’ve got a bunch of screen shots for you and a couple videos as well…

I don’t know about you guys but personally I’m rather sick of hearing about the ‘wonderful’ iPhone 3g.(and I use the term wonderful loosely..) It’s everywhere you look, it’s the popular thing to talk about and I don’t quite get what it is about this phone that has everyone in such an uproar over?! The first iPhone didn’t come out that long ago, and the new iPhone doesn’t offer that many new features over the old one, sure it has 3G, but that should have been on the first gen phone honestly. I mean Apple got into bed with AT&T, a known 3G provider/carrier but yet the phone doesn’t support it?! That just doesn’t make much sense to me really… Anyway, so the iPhone 3g adds GPS right? No and Yes, and well sort of, the actual usability of the GPS is still in question, and from what I understand it doesn’t provide turn by turn navigation, so if you need or like that feature you’ll have to buy a second device just for navigation. At least for me GPS is mainly for getting directions to help you get where you are going, what good is it to know where you are if you don’t know where to go to get where you’re going?

Continue on to read the rest… it gets interesting!

So, I got a nice surprise package in the mail today, Sven over at Triforce felt I needed a few more of their great product to giveaway to our wonderful readers!!!

I’m not going to say how many I got… but what I’m going to do is a surprise giveaway, and it’s going to be whenever I feel like it!

So that means you guys are going to have to pay attention to what’s going here, and make sure to visit often to see what’s we’re up to….

I’m going to limit it to the first 10 responses to the contest post, and one of those will be randomly picked to get one of the bonus Triforce Styli that the great Sven-Olof sent off to me…

–and yes Angela I was serious, you can have one.. Angela asked nicely for one so she gets one! You’ll need to send me your address Angela, to kbrozio [@] gmail.com

And of course I’ve still got two more to giveaway this month in the regular contest as well, so make sure you hop on over HERE and throw your name in the hat for a chance to win!

Oh.. edit here.. I forgot, I’ve only got one of the Light Pink/Dark Pink ones, so I’m thinking I’m going to do a ‘Girls Only’ giveaway for that one…
