Thanks for the great ideas. Not sure what kind of inputs (if any) are in my stock Volvo V70 (2005) stereo. Any one else have a Volvo? Manual doesn't say anything....

I will give the x50 Mix a try. The main problem with this FM Transmitter is a hiss - whether in town (Toronto) or even in the small towns with very little FM traffic. The sound quality of the audio is really terrible - but I will know better after trying x50 Mix.

I really like the idea of getting a hardwired solution - but Volvo wouldn't touch anything and threaten 'Volvo warranty void' when playing around with aftermarket... They do sell an ipod kit for my car (for $400!!) that gives an ipod jack in the armrest - so I assume that they must connect this to the stereo with an aux input of some sort....
