I use a...
SanDisk Cruzer for that type of thing.

It is an SD Card reader/Writer that has a built in usb (1.1) port that can connect to most systems. XP sysytems recognize it immediately. You could have a driver on floppy for older systems.

After connecting it is an easy thing to copy to system then use their desktop Excel or Word to print to whatever printer is connected to system.

It is small and light and works very well.
