OK, I'm WRONG

To get this off my chest,

I was WRONG that the PX255 could NOT do 400 with a 100 bus.

There, I said it.

But other than taking someone's word for it, I dug in the Intel PDF's and saw how it was generated for myself.:p

ftp://download.intel.com/design/pca/...s/27869301.pdf

At any rate, digging in the Xscale PDF, we see that there's 2 possible settings to get 400 on any PXA255 processor:

27, 2, 2 gives 400 at a 100 bus

27, 4, 1 gives 400 at a 200 bus.

Now if the Dell is in fact doing it with a 100 bus, what's keeping someone from changing the settings with a program like Pocket Hack Master to run the faster bus? The proc is physically capable of doing it, and according to the PDF, everything else would be in spec.

I'm also seeing that depending on the setting used, it looks like a throttling mechanism could be employed to extend battery life. Both 300 and 400 on the 100 bus seem to have these settings.

Now, my other question is: if the iPaq 2210/2215 are running the same 100 bus that the Dells are, how is it blowing everything else out of the water?

So, furthermore, I apologize if I come off as WTF sometimes. I'm looking for the real answers. I don't like to take so-and-so's word for it because so-and-so or someone else said so. Show me WHY and I'll shake your hand AND respect you a lot more.
