I don't know what note program is on Palm, but here are some PPC note suggestions.
You can take a look a PhatNotes or PhatPad.
Pocket Informant comes with a built in note program and also comes with a free copy of PhatNotes Lite.
Take a look at Handango.com for text editors. Many have trials you can see which one suits you best.
