Actually, that's completely wrong. These are just things that sites post, mainly because the people running these illegal sites are idiots.
1. It is
NOT legal to copy a game cartridge to another format (i.e. ROM file) even if you own the cartridge.
2. You are correct, however there are only a small handful of
legal ROMs out there.
3. Not so....Unless the copyright holders have officially released it as freeware, you can still not download it for free. It doesn't matter how old something is, it is still copyrighted, so therefore you cannot copy it. And yes, the owners can still make money off of them.....many times a company will eventually port their old games to PC or another gaming system as a "Retro Pack" or something like that.
Anyhow, I just wanted to set that straight. And as always on Aximsite, feel free to discuss emulation/emulators.....but please do not discuss ROM trading/obtaining/etc. :)
