The paid versio isn't any faster it just has no restrictions on file size like the lite version - I usually get the average 1.5hr movie down to 300MB and I usually set it before I turn in for the night; I think its the 2 pass encoding that really takes the time though personally I'd rather have a good result that took a little longer than some of the crap I've had from other "paid for" DVD converters.
