Corporate firewall won't let Activesync connect

Hi. I have an Axim x51v that syncs just fine at home. I need to get it connected to my laptop at work, and am having trouble. I'm using USB, but can't connect. The theory is that I'm being blocked by my corporate firewall or virus scanner or network connections manager or VPN software. We use Checkpoint products here. I've disabled (I think) my VPN, and my virus scaner (Symantec Anti Virus Corporate Edition) but still can't get through. Any ideas about how to proceed? Thanks!
