Disconnect your firewall (exit, close) and restart activesynch.

I had the same issue with my laptop connected at work.
We have sygate firewall but not the full version which allows you to have multiple rules but only one. And, of course, the rule allocation is already been taken by the IT for the network system.

Since I cannot add a new rule for the Activesync, it does not want to synch.

I have to completely exit the sygate softare (no firewall on my laptop) for my Axim to synch on my PC.

Its not too bad since the cie has an other firewall on the network that controls internet access.
