If you look at Microsoft's ActiveSync pages they have directions for what ports to open for various firewalls. It isn't a problem with Norton Anti-Virus or VPN software. Window's built in firewall generally works without modification, but you might look at the settings and see if there is an exception for active sync. Most corporations don't put a firewall on the laptop, they use one between the internet router and the LAN. AS 4 creates a new network connection, you may have to be administrator of your laptop to allow that to be created. There are also policies that your IT dept can enforce on your machine that will stop it. The best thing is to contact your local help desk and ask them. Hope this helps!
