What operating system are you running? Windows 2000 or XP you have to type in the folder name as is, with spaces and warts and all. In any other OS, the DOS command prompt will growl at you and consider the space as the end of line basically. Shitty, indeed.
It sounds like there might be a problem with the folder name... did you try renaming it and see what goes on? Windows sometimes is iffy with combinations of folder and file names. Give that a try.
Last but not least... what kind of file are you trying to delete?
