I think the suggestion from Socket is sound. There is no advantage to using AS 4.x over 3.8 unless you need it because of WM5.0. AS 4.x has many issues with firewalls and you lose the ability to sync over a LAN (aka wirelessly).

IMHO 3.8 is probably the most stable version of ActiveSync that M$ has ever released (not that that is saying a lot).
