Built-in storage doesn't affect your memory for running programs. You may have some programs installed in RAM or you may have several other programs running (minimized) that are still taking up RAM. You can use switcher bar, ICbar or whatever to make sure all other programs are closed, then try running WM.

Also make sure your memory settings aren't set so that you have reserved too much RAM for other uses. Under Settings there is an icon for memory. You can play around there to discover hwo much memory you have and what your memory is being used for.

I have the Axim basic and have never had a problem with low memory, even when running up to about 10 average apps at the same time.
