ok the serial syc cable works with the nextel phone as a Hanes compadable modem. Of course you need a cable for the Nextel phone that is serial too. Beware though no usb connection between the two will work. And also the part Motorola says is a unversal adapter is false it is not a null modem adapter, it is for a palm pda. Your going to have a very long cable when you attach the two cables with a null modem adapter and a gender changer from Radio shack. But when i first tryed it it was intermittent, i had to turn off flow control and play with the local dial set up you need to put a capital G in local dialing setup so it dials s=2 without putting other junk in there, though it didn't seem to matter when i first tryed it. i got aol messenger to work and msn messenger to work at same time no problems with that. Internet explorer was also working fine. You also should turn off active syc it seems to think the modem in phone is a host computer. i don't know why but in the connection perferences put parity as none and flow control as none when i did this i had not trouble logging on to the packet stream gold network. email me with questions
