OK, um stumped...I have been trying now for over 7 months to get my axim x50v to connect to the internet to no avail. I have followed so many differing takes on advice and still I can't connect.
I have tried connecting with security enabled as well as with no security at all. When I have all security off I get all green power bars bottom right that show that I am connected. I also get the antennae symbol (even the arrows show that the router/modem and ppc are talking) at the top showing that I am connected but I still can't connect to the internet...no MSN...no skype...nothing.:rolling:
With security enabled I am unable to get the PPC to acknowledge that there is wifi in the area (and only five feet away) although it shows my connection under the settings>connections>dell utility>configure wireless networks window as well as in the oddesy utility when I scan for it. I just can't connect, though. I have configured the router, a (Siemens) Gigaset se515 every which way from Tuesday (1) with w/o security; (2) MAC address dis/enabled; (3) everywhere I am given the option of "Internet or work" I choose "work"; (4) I have cycled my router for more than thirty seconds at a shot while soft resetting my PPC and then powered up the PPC only after the router came back online and only then did I power on the radio.
As I mentioned above-all this has been done with and w/o security enabled. I understand from other post here and elsewhere that the Axim is not really ready to use anything greater than WEP but still, with or with out I can't get no satisfaction nor a connection.
At a previous residence I had no problem using my PPC as my primary internet PC using a friend’s internet that was in the apartment across the hall from me until mine was hooked up (takes a while for utilities to be turned on here in Germany). It seems to that only after I purchased a my own router and updated the firmware to it and my PPC did I start to encounter problems.
I had been hoping for a ROM update as I believe the ROM update I downloaded and installed those many months ago is either partially or fully responsible for my woes.
At present I am running ROM version A05. My router is a modem and router-in-one made by Siemens’, Gigaset SE515. In all honesty, although I did connect when I first purchased the router/modem I didn't know a lot about the security portion back then so I am not really sure if I had security enabled back then...but it did connect back then and as I pointed out above, presently I can't connect with or without security.
I am trying to lay out as much information as possible so if I am overlooking anything just let me know. Appreciate and thank ya'll for any help you offer.
