I agree that this would be a useful sticky - but it might want to be broken into several rather than one quite long one. At its original length, a lot of those who are too lazy to do adequate research etc, will be far too lazy to read that whole chunk at once. Maybe make it a sort of Posting Tips section, and break it by the main headings within the overall body text?
