If you only have 1 router, it should be flawless!
The idea behind limitating the subnet, is that with the classic subnet (255.255.255.0) is that you can not forward in the linksys (WRT54G or others from linksys) to send the packets to all pcs (ie linksys does not allow you to put 192.168.x.254).
hence Liam trick: put a subnet ending in .128, and have a port open for 192.168.x.127!
Packets will be sent to all pc - the MAC address will know which computer to target (and the fact that you configured your card for that)
I have 2 router as it is not my place - and that was the easiest way to get Wifi everywhere without pulling cables.
Test the set up with the Depicus wol packets monitor - works well.
As far as wol over wifi, and as I said, I know that with the Belkin wifi/ethernet adapter it works great.
Don't know about the others.
I got mine on ebay, for 42 $.
