When I use it with my 8525, I get about 15-20 ft of range...
I bought mine at BestBuy for $120.00 several months ago.
I also carry the device by inserting it through a side belt loop of my pants. It is too uncomfortable to pull it down around my neck and you look like a 'tard if you push it up like it is a plastic red tiara
