I see units like this from time to time.
Here's what works most of the time: (partially redundant from above)
-Take apart X5 top and bottom shell from m/b and screen assembly (6 screws total)
-Separate the screen from the m/b (4 tabs and 3 ribbon cables).
-I use cleaner and wipe the screen down completely with cotton pieces, then reassemble the unit.
Alot of crap gets trapped between the shell and the screen.
I thought the X5 was fragile, but I learned that it could withstand some pressure to take it apart. Quite rugged, actually.
