In order to sync your device, AS needs to create a partnership which is done the first time you connect your device to your PC. In order for you to be able to change sync options in the future you must to this. If at any point you wish to "start again" i.e. make a new partnership for the same device then you can, with your device NOT attached to your PC, delete the partnership then when you next attach your device to your PC a new partnership will be created.

AS itself is not the sharpest tool in the box but it can be a right pain in the proverbial. Pressing Stop does no real harm but will just confuse it for future syncing. You don't really want to be doing this too often.

Once you have made this partnership then the world is your oyster. You can change the sync partnership on your device by opening up AS, going to Menu, Options and choosing what you want to sync. You can also do this in AS on your PC when your device is connected.

How files are removed from your device depends on your sync profile. If you have "Files" checked then AS creates a folder on your PC which it uses to sync files. If, on the Options screen on your PC, you click the settings button while it is on ""Windows PC" you can now tell AS how you want it to treat the files on your device/PC, i.e. where to sync files from. This will determine whether or not files you delete from your desktop PC are also deleted from your device. It is always helpful to keep backups up to date as it is very, very easy to get it wrong and end up deleting a file you think you are syncing! So backup regularly and certainly before any major deletion of files. Once you have copied files to your device, and you don't wish to continually re-sync, then you can remove "Files" from your list of things to be synced in the AS Tools, Options menu and they will remain on both your PC and your device.

Hope this helps.
