OK, so now i'm confused. i have google maps loaded on my tilt and wifi and the phone turned off and when i try to run google maps i get error message 183 that states this program requires a data connection. can anyone lead me through astep by step process to run the gps without a data connection. thanks

You cannot use Google Maps and Microsoft Live Search without a data connection because they are not just GPS programs. They provide continuous information on traffic, shopping etc to the user. It is possible that other GPS programs (like Tom-Tom) may work without a connection but I doubt it. Anyway, why would anybody buy this phone without data connection? Without it, it is just useless. Any other cheap phone will do for voice.
