You would be a god if you could replace activesync!
I do tech support for a living and am 100% sick of M$oft locking the market with this program and then not supporting it. I've got several customers with new phones (off topic for Axim) that can't use them because the sync doesn't work. They've got really expensive phones without so much as a contact list. One forum on the microsoft site hasn't had a response from anyone at microsoft in over 3 mos. Just ticked wm5 and 6 users posting there. It's insulting that they think they don't have to support they're monopoly of products. ----breathing deeply and.....
:) my votes are for:
- wifi sync (why did they get rid of it in the first place?)
- not connecting to outlook 100% of the time to allow a pst backup once in a while would be a nice idea
- data sync (mp3's, docs, xls, pics, etc.) to storage cards as well but, with the option not to convert or compress the files ie. mp3's are not degraded to save space. For example, the sd can be inserted into a pc and the spreadsheet can be read directly.
-conversion of the openoffice .ods and .odt (? writer and calc) conversions to pocket excel and pocket writer format.
- if possible intercept calls from software pkgs that do direct sync through activesync like Tourateq QV mapping software pulling data from gps programs for one. I'm sure there's others. I don't know how specific this would be as I don't code but something to keep in mind.
- best of all remote wifi sync with an adjustable port for access from any wifi connection on the net. Maybe this could also have a pick list of a library of files to select for transfer, viewable from the device itself with folders you can tag as being accessible ie. My Music or My Pictures or cab installers
An ubuntu or other deb version of the software would be fantastic too.
