It works on mine. (x51v) Possibly it's not needed but I've installed all the software on my x51v from .cab files stored on my sd card. The advantages I've found are 1. No need to make the .cab file read only so it doesn't self delete after install. Just check the box "do not delete cab file. 2. Easy to make a sub folder when installing to a storage card. ie. I install to a folder named "program files" and under that folder I create a sub folder with the name of the software I'm installing. Keeps things nice and neat.
Edit: I stand corrected. Just realized I've installed everything to device memory on my x51v and not the sd card like I did on my x50v. Cabinstl will just bring up the standard install dialoge and will not install the software to a sub folder on a wm5 os device.
